Review summary

It is a nice ship, with friendly staff, and many activities. We booked 2 shore tours on Viator, to make sure we have local tour guides. The mandatory gratuity of $14.50 per person/day was an unpleasant surprise, I didn't see it in the term/conditions when I booked the tour, and it was an additional $304.5 expense.

Embarkation

security is very unprofessional. They found an unpermitted item in my daughter's purse; the item went through TSA including the Canadian border. The officers didn't know what to do, they made het sit at the "table of shame" in front of everyone and they told her they are calling the police on her. After 20 minutes waiting and letting her cry there, she was let go, but they forgot to give her passport back, and when she run back they didn't know what is she talking about.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Fe in the restaurant at dining was was very sweet!

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
lots of great programs

Entertainment

5 out of 5
I really liked the piano bar on deck 6, and the karaoke.

Children's Programs

no small kids

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
the staff is very nice, they make weird comments sometimes, it must be a language barrier, so I didn't take it personal. For example I was called a 5 years old, because I asked no ice in my water.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
it was very nice and clean, the age of the ship shows in the design (carpets, etc)

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Xammy our housekeeper was very nice, she was always around, I hope she gets enough time off.

Ship tip

The mandatory gratuity of $14.50 per person/day was an unpleasant surprise, I didn't see it in the term/conditions when I booked the tour, and it was an additional $304.5 expense for the 3of us.

What unpermitted item is so bad that they threatened to call the police instead of just confiscating it! Glad you enjoyed the rest of the cruise anyway.

As already stated, reading is the key to a positive trip. Your daughter might also have learned that she had unintentionally brought an illegal item.

Glad you enjoyed most of it. It’s always a good idea to read and understand what it is and is not included in your basic cruise fare. The daily gratuities are listed on the website, in the agreement everyone agrees to when booking the cruise and should also be in documents sent to you prior to boarding your cruise.
