Review summary

Our first visit to Alaska. The Cruise allowed us to visit multiple ports and enjoy the scenery along the way. We took advantage of the awesome weather and enjoyed every single minute. Wouldn’t change a thing! So much to see! Can’t wait to do it again!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We chose the Ultimate Dining Experience which allowed us unlimited access to the specialty restaurants for dinner. Gourmet & Beautifully plated meals we felt like celebrities, in a relaxed non-stuffy environment with amazing window views! The rest of our meals were at the Windjammer buffet. Food was equally fantastic and diverse!

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
We took advantage of all the activities! This was not a “read a book & relax” cruise for us…although it could definitely have been, because there were plenty of areas to accommodate this throughout the ship! We did, however, take a nap every day after lunch, but not before checking the daily activities schedule (trivia, bingo for cash and prizes, fun competitions, zumba, yoga, stretch, etc) That nap kept us going til late, so we didn’t miss out on the after dinner activities (shows, music, dancing). Side note: We had exceptionally nice weather and was even able to lay out by the pool comfortably and enjoy a cocktail and a nap twice!

Entertainment

5 out of 5
We loved the stage shows in Aurora each evening , that was a highlight for me, we scheduled our meals around it so we would not miss any of the shows. Comedians, Music Dance…all the shows were wonderful! Music on the ship was fun after hours …and relaxing and jazzy during the day. Great mix! Even the captain of the ship performed for us! Fun Crew!

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The professionalism of the entire crew was top-notch. We were taken great care of by our room steward. He would kindly greet us by name every day, even folded our clothes on several mornings where we were rushing out to an excursion and just temporarily threw our stuff over a chair. We really were spoiled! All our waiters from specialty dining to buffet style went out of their way to treat us like royalty. Remembering what we like (orange juice and coffee ready for us within seconds of sitting) and just asking about our day and eagerly listening as we shared our excursion stories. Even though they were very busy, they never once seemed bothered or rushed.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
The ship has a nice layout and is clean…it’s a smaller ship, but we still managed to get turned around a couple of times. Thankful for directions by all the elevators!

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Beds are comfy-we slept great. Blackout curtains helpful. Good size and clean rooms, included a dryer. Limited outlets & closet space . Balcony was a bonus for sure! We had a small table and 2 chairs on it that we never used…but would have loved to have the loungers that our neighbors had and never used in 7156 & 7160. They had a bigger balcony too. Upgraded room maybe?

Ship tip

An Alaskan Cruise is indescribable …the views are almost unreal. Arrive early for dinner and get that window seat….it’s the best seat in the house!

Ports of call

Seward (Anchorage), Alaska

5 out of 5
We traveled by train to Seward …highly recommend! It was worth every Penny! Boarded the ship after a quick walk through the town.

Cruise Hubbard Glacier

We did not do the excursion, but the ones that did said it was Amazing!

Juneau, Alaska

5 out of 5
One of our favorite ports! We went Whale watching in the morning and that afternoon we visited Herbert Glacier via Coastal Helicopters. These were fabulous excursions. Walking on and drinking Water from a glacier was incredible!! My favorite excursion ever!

Skagway, Alaska

5 out of 5
The train ride in Skagway far exceeded our expectations! The views were breathtaking!

Haines, Alaska

We did a photography walking tour with our guide (expert photographer) using our iPhones. This was a real treat, beautiful views and learned some really neat tips! Best pics we took all trip!

Icy Strait Point (Hoonah), Alaska

5 out of 5
Our excursion was canceled so we did our own walking tour…which was even better! We saw hundreds of starfish in the water, walked a beautiful scenic path along the coast, and caught a free ride on the gondola. Weather was spectacular!

Ketchikan, Alaska

5 out of 5
We spent most of our Ketchikan visit in the water on a fishing boat. The fish were not that interested in our bait…but we caught enough fish (Rock Fish) to take back to our wilderness camp site where the chef was waiting for us with some hot coffee and a fire pit to sit by while he prepared our amazing lunch. Truly a gourmet meal including Dessert to die for!!

Cruise Inside Passage, Alaska

5 out of 5
We had the absolute best weather on our trip. Cruising the inside package was beautiful! No matter where you looked…majestic mountains surrounded us! The only “extreme” weather we had was at night and in the early mornings the fog was so dense the Foghorn was sounded every 2 minutes. Eventually by breakfast time it would burn off and those incredible views would Return!

Vancouver (Canada Place), British Columbia

5 out of 5
This was our first rainy day…pulling into Vancouver! By 3pm it was gone and we went into town and explored. Ending our day with a sunset from The Top Of Vancouver’s Revolving Restaurant.
