Review summary

Great experience. Understand you will be "smoking" if you go to the casino, there is really no way to separate smoking and non-smoking in one large area! Caution for those eating dinner at 8 PM - sun is setting and will be shining in someone's eyes! Know that on Royal Caribbean there are formal dining nights, but if you do not want to dress up you can always go to the Windjammer Cafe.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Starting in Seward, great greeting, entry at 2 pm with no lines, immediate access to food and fun. Glacier viewing with spectacular views from each side of the ship. Stops in Juneau, Skagway, Ketchikan, and Icy Straight Point allowed daily excursions and experiences of Alaska. The week we went had sunny weather in each port and temperatures in the 60s and 70s. The only drawback was the difficulty understanding the speech of the Captain on the overhead announcements and the televised orientation to the ship. I would love to go again!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Main dining room was great but slow service at 8 pm, lunch and breakfast. Windjammer overall quality was good with great variety. Some days seemed like one step above Golden Corral. Latte-tudes great service each and every day!

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Table Tennis, Casino, and Card Room

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Variety of musicians were great.

Children's Programs

no kids

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Everyone was concerned with our experience, from the waiters, Coleen and Japsie, in the main dining room to the room service, Iwayan. Outstanding care!

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Always waiting for an elevator in the central part of the ship and poor access for disembarking on deck 2, could only access through the forward elevators.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Small shower but expected in a ship, we had to use an extension cord for our CPAP machines to the wall plug by the vanity/TV area. Balcony view was great!

Ship tip

It is an older ship, but it is easy to navigate from one area to another.

Ports of call

Seward (Anchorage), Alaska

5 out of 5
Embarking port, has a local laundry if you need it. Fun attractions to see, Exit Glacier is close and an easy climb.

Cruise Hubbard Glacier

5 out of 5
The captain turned the ship several times for people to see from both sides of the ship.

Juneau, Alaska

5 out of 5
Interesting, expensive to live there, Mendenhall glacier walk and Whale watching was Great with $100 guarantee if you did not see a whale. We saw several whales!!

Skagway, Alaska

5 out of 5
White Rail Pass was interesting but hard to get big view on both up and down, lots of trees impaired the photo-taking opportunities. Beautiful vista when no trees obstructing the view.

Icy Strait Point (Hoonah), Alaska

5 out of 5
Definitely designed for the tourist, but great selection of local art and culture. Enjoyed the wildlife walk and tour with native security to protect from bears. Tour guide was well educated and could speak about local fauna and wildlife as well a native culture.

Ketchikan, Alaska

5 out of 5
nice port, easy access on and off ship, great company took us fishing, caught halibut and was shipped home to us after verifying we were home to accept shipment. Fun day out on the water.

Cruise Inside Passage, Alaska

4 out of 5
lovely views from both side of the ship.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
Easy disembarking. Luggage quickly available. Some confusion where to go to get to our hotel, had to go to the airport then to our hotel from the airport.
