Have your formal/semi formal outfits ready.

The target passengers are mostly seniors. The activities are geared towards this age group

You can board early in the day, earlier than they tell you in writing.

I’m moving for a couple of years to Germany to live with friends. I chose the transatlantic voyage for my transition from the states in order to simple relax and prepare for this new phase of my journey.

Explore the entire ship on the first day or two so you won’t miss any of the amenities, such as viewing the officers operations in the bridge, the indoor pool and whirlpool, the observation deck, exercise center, etc.

The Britannia class staterooms and restaurant are very fine indeed, and represent a huge saving over higher classes.

Book extended afternoon tea early. Great experience, but don’t expect to eat an early dinner afterwards.

Check out all the areas and services early in the voyage so you can determine where you want to spend time.

Well worth the extra money to upgrade to the “Grills” I would never fly business class as do not see the value, but I will only cruise Grills with Cunard

Think twice about sailing on Queen Mary 2. Other cruise ships have much more to offer.

The QE2 is definitely a Luxury Ocean Liner. If you want casual, this is not the ship for you. There are formal nights every night of the crossings and semi-formal the rest of the cruise.

Know where G32 is right away, and get to know your drink staff!

Don't spend a penny on extras, because all the meals and activities included are great. The only charge you will need is for internet, which you should skip because you are on vacation, and drinks, which are very reasonably priced. Ask for a table for six or eight for dinner, to meet interesting travelers.

Secret exterior elevator forward connects to the observation deck.

Be prepared to walk a fair amount if you want to attend things on the ship.
