Review summary

As this was our first Cunard cruise and cruise number 10 for me, I very much enjoyed the ship, the ambiance, the state room, the music and the services. We were never bored but did get in some much needed rest and relaxation.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Great customer support by having beverages, snacks, plenty of seating and washrooms available in the boarding lounge. Once our letter was called, there was a very short line and then processed very quicklu.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
The buffet for breakfast and lunch was excellent with a good variety of good food. The special afternoon tea with music and table service was a delight. Dinner in the dining room was marginal, at best. We tried to sample each course, but the food was not the typical quality of cruise food. Our wonderful dinner companions, long time Cunard members, agreed and said that the food on the Queen Elizabeth was much better. The sommelier started our quite grumpy but improved by the end of the voyage.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
We used the spa facilities for aqua and other services. The choir was a delightful surprise. The library was a wonderful addition and the planetarium was good.

Mareel Wellness & Beauty

5 out of 5

We appreciated the spa services (manicure, pedicure) and the aqua area with the saunas, steam room and relaxation area.

Entertainment

5 out of 5

Connexions

2 out of 5

The cost of internet was ridiculously high and when we checked with fellow passengers who used it, we were told that it was spotty at best.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
The wait staff and room steward were fine.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
We enjoyed the layout of the ship and appreciated the way-finding signage. The common areas were plentiful and did not seem to be packed.

Cabin / Stateroom

Ship tip

Check out all the areas and services early in the voyage so you can determine where you want to spend time.

Did you purchase a weekly spa pass? Want to see how that went as I am planning to do so on my trip. Thanks

We’ve been on Queen Elizabeth and the QM2 loved both ships although I prefer QE. we’ve booked for QV next year already. The product Cunard deliver is always top notch, reliable and impressive. I’ve read before that the food in Britannia restaurant can be hit and miss, only travelled in club or grills before and always found it to be superb and as good if not better than many top city restaurants.
