Not Good by fletch60

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Queen Mary 2

Disappointing, was supposed to be celebrating my 60th. This ship was on a world cruise if we had gone to the cancelled ports, Australia wouldn't have let the ship into there waters, others cruise ships were stopping

This cruise was just like I imagine cruising was like at the turn of the century, with a little bit of modern. by Nonijo

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Queen Mary 2 / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

This was a very special cruise for us. We celebrated 50 years of dating. It was luxurious and a very nice experience. The itinerary was great. Actually it was a three in one cruise. We sailed from New York across the Atlantic to Southampton, then up the coast of Norway to the Land of the Midnight Sun, and back down to Southampton. Then back across the Atlantic to New York. This was the last cruise with my husband. He died the next year.

Amazing ship! by demand79

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Queen Mary 2

Would highly recommend the QM2, and will definitely be back! Transatlantic is now on my bucket list. Not sure if I’d take my children on this ship, but travelling as a couple, it was perfect. Plenty of time to relax, loved getting dressed up in the evening, enough activities to keep us entertained, service was perfect and the ship itself is absolutely stunning.

We only had 3 nights on board. Enough for us to yearn for more! A beautiful ship with a well deserved reputation for class and luxury. ‘We’ll be back’

Crossing on the Queen Mary 2 by Sluggoaafa

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Queen Mary 2 / Destination: Transatlantic

Loved the ship. Enjoyed the awesome food, and the staff made everyone welcomed. Get to know when/where the Friends of Dorothy meet, or ensure you are up early to enjoy some of the lectures the cruise line offers. (lost hours every night as we were going eastbound...now need to gain them back at some point! lol)

Brilliant way to travel to USA! by Intrepidandy

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Queen Mary 2 / Destination: Transatlantic

This was our first cruise and Cunard did a fantastic job. Other guests said Cunard and QM2 are the best line by a long way, and we certainly had a great time. The Chief Engineer Tim Holton was great, we discussed technical stuff and he was a perfect host. The captain was impressive, and all the staff were friendly and efficient. Great way to get to USA!!!

Has this Queen lost some of her lustre? by LifeInCamelot

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Queen Mary 2 / Destination: Europe

This was my 4th cruise aboard QM2 and my husband was keen to see the changes made after the expensive and extensive "remastering" took place last year so we sailed for 3 weeks around Asia, but as these were the same ports we visited last year on board Queen Elizabeth, it wasn't that exciting.

Yes, many of the changes have enhanced QM2 but some of the most basic items haven't been attended to e.g. the metal finish on hand taps in public bathrooms is wearing off, and for some unknown reason the Golden Lion pub still smells strongly of cigarette smoke despite it being a non-smoking area.  My daughter even thought they might be piping the smell in just for the ambience of an English pub, but I'm not convinced of that.

I was also sad to see that the interior glass lift that started in the grand lobby and went up to the Kings Court has gone, but I understand this was removed to assist in making space for the new interior cabins on decks 2 and 3.

I was thrilled to reconnect with a couple of our waiter friends, whom we met on board in 2015, and have stayed friends with since.

We also had the best sommelier we've ever had on board a Cunard ship (thanks Adrian).

BUT our room attendant was the worst I've ever encountered.  We barely saw him, he didn't clean our toilet once during our 21 night voyage and after being in our cabin for a week I had to track him down and ask him to try to do something about the black mould (yes, you read that correctly) that was in our bathroom.  He managed to get rid of some of it but I am definitely going to write to Cunard about that, as well as his complete disinterest in providing anything for us.

I fear that Carnival is all consumed with making dollars instead of pleasing passengers, and once they realise that they need to up their game with various issues, including the cost and speed of the internet on board, and the very lacklustre and boring (with a capital B) entertainment (plus the awful Entertainment Director on QM2), then things might return to the way they were when we first sailed upon her.

Is it just me, or is this Queen beginning to lose some of her lustre?

cunard living off old charm . needs to catch up. by matronsue

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Queen Mary 2

Cunard delivers lovely accommodation and food , with beautiful interiors . Outside spaces are tired and lacking compared to other cruise lines. A lovely holiday but cunard excursion to Hamburg ruined it for us. Rusty dirty pools with broken tiles. First cruise we have never been able to swim.

Perfect time for a crossing, great weather, great ship. by JoeHaligonian

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Queen Mary 2

Best weather of all my crossings. Not the best crossing I’ve done but not the worse crossing. I found that people retired early during this crossing and by midnight the ship was dead. Guess the passengers on this voyage didn’t like partying and staying up late. I made many new friends on this voyage and I will more than likely do a fifth crossing on board Queen Mary 2.

Cross Atlantic crossing and back by wyck

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Queen Mary 2 / Destination: Transatlantic

good value for money, staff very professional and helpful, good food, fun entertainment, made great friends and lovely views. Only thing I did not like too much a bit basic tour of NYC. I expected a bit more, to be honest, that was not good value for money. Otherwise, I would always do that cruise again.

My Favorite ship so far. by WarnerAthey

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Queen Mary 2 / Destination: Transatlantic

Right from the start you can tell this ship is different.  We heard a dog barking.  I figured it was a drug sniffing dog or something.   Well then we saw the dogs.  They were passengers.  They have there own deck and their own chef.   Every day I went up to put the dogs.

You notice the difference as soon as you step aboard.  Several ships officers were standing there to welcome us aboard.   You don't see that on other ships.

About half of the passenger were British.  We met some interesting people who were form England.

The shows were great.  Also the library was really really great.   Much better than the Brilliance of the Seas library.  They even have a planetarium.

They had a good band on board.  They have a laundry room with no charge. You don't get that on the Brilliance of the Seas.

The only negative is they closed the hot tup at 10 pm.   There  is not much to do at night.   They shut things down.   The Brilliance of the Seas kept a hot tub open all night.

They need more things for the night owls and early risers.

That would make the Voyage even better.

Queen Mary 2 short break. by BrysY

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Queen Mary 2

Having missed out on a longer QM2 cruise due to Covid in 2020 we just wanted to try this iconic ship. We were not disappointed. Aside from expensive drinks we loved it. Force 8 and rough seas on the return journey and it was as smooth as a billiard table on board. We definitely want to do the transatlantic now.

Fantastic by seahor3e

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Queen Mary 2 / Destination: Transatlantic

This was our first cruise ever, we embarked at Southampton, sailed away to New york. There was plently to do during our week, and even though the weather got a little rough, didn't really notice it unless you headed out on deck. Next time I do a cruise I might go for a shorter one, in my opinion 8 days is too long, still had a good time.
