Review summary

This was our first cruise and Cunard did a fantastic job. Other guests said Cunard and QM2 are the best line by a long way, and we certainly had a great time. The Chief Engineer Tim Holton was great, we discussed technical stuff and he was a perfect host. The captain was impressive, and all the staff were friendly and efficient. Great way to get to USA!!!

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Embarkation was efficient bit like airport check-in, except you leave your luggage at a collection point to be taken to your cabin, then wait to be called to check-in.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The food and service in the Britannia Restaurant was excellent. We were on the 8.30pm sitting which worked fine, we had a cocktail in one of the many elegant bars before dinner. Our 2 waiters Brando and Timothy were everything you could ask for, funny intelligent efficient. We sat on a table for 6 at dinner which was nice, for breakfast lunch and tea we sat with a variety of people and had great conversations and great food. Wine was available at about $33 bottle or beer eg Grolsch for $7 for 500cl bottle which I think is very reasonable for an elegant restaurant.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
We enjoyed all our activities especially ballroom dancing classes and practice, flower arranging, social bridge, gym, lectures, planetarium, tour of kitchens, all free included in price.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Musicians were excellent, a Sinatra lookalike was maybe a bit dated, but overall the entertainment was good, musicians especially

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Service was overall superb. Friendly polite efficient, they even brought our flower display to our table each evening.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Very clean and well laid out.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Well laid out with a sheltered balcony everything to hand and Venus did a great job keeping it all spotless and nicely arranged with discretion and efficiency.

Ship tip

Go to Dance Classes and Flower Arranging.

New York, New York

To our surprise we disembarked at Brooklyn Red Hook not 50 St Manhattan. But Uber got us to our destination OK anyway.

Disembarkation

See above, efficient but we would have preferred Manhatan
