Review summary

We only had 3 nights on board. Enough for us to yearn for more! A beautiful ship with a well deserved reputation for class and luxury. ‘We’ll be back’

Embarkation

3 out of 5
Lengthy and tedious. This was only because of unorganised covid testing at Southampton dock. Arriving at our allied time, it took us 2 hours to drive through the testing area! I’m sorry to say a necessary evil at present!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
All were outstanding.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Fitness walking around the promenade deck. Lovely pools. Craft and dance sessions open to all.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Lovely stage productions with extravagant costumes. Well rehearsed professional performances.

Children's Programs

3 out of 5
We did not have need to peruse these facilities, but I’m sure they were there.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
A little more training in the main dining room was needed for some staff. I think this was owing to the fact that we were the first cruise out after covid shutdowns, which meant the possibility of new staff.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Bearing in mind this ship is a ‘liner’ and primarily deigned for transatlantic crossings, the layout is rather different from the standard modern cruise ship of today. This in no way is detrimental to this ship. Everywhere on board the QM2 is extravagant. The decor is grand. Without exception the entire ship was to a high standard of cleanliness. Including all covid protocols. Sail on her and I defy you to be disappointed.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We had a double bedded balcony cabin and were impressed by the generous size and layout. This included a comfortable sofa, plus a coffee table and 2 comfortable club chairs. I was cleaned to a high standard daily.

Ship tip

Sit back and enjoy a luxurious sail on the one and only ocean liner and Queen of the high seas.

Ports of call

Southampton (London), England

Disembarkation

Well organised. Easy baggage reclaim. Everything went to plan.

our favorite ship. a step above. you will not be served in the mdr if not properly attired. as it should be. i’m not all that impressed with the trailer park crowd on most ships anymore and the lack of any rule enforcement by the lines who just want bodies on board. qm2 is what cruising should be. elegant.
