Beautiful cruise ship with just the right amount of amenities. Staff were pleasant, though seemed to be short staffed. The mountains of Alaska stole the show - amazing to see almost every day! Ports of call were great! I also loved the ship’s naturalist and didn’t miss a single lecture and tried to speak with her every day - highly knowledgeable.
Embarkation

Didn’t have to wait too long. Happy to be aboard!
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
Buffet was better than main restaurant by a Large margin. Basic American concepts seemed to be missing, like offering Chateaubriand with a brown sauce vs the expected Béarnaise sauce. Also, Eggs Benedict is served on an untoasted wheat English muffin.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
Cunard Cruise lines offered pretty good entertainment in the way of musical guests and lectures. I didn’t partake in most of the other offerings, which was fine by me.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
Most were good, some were less so, but again, that was fine by me. I was there for the scenery and ports of call.
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
Most were excellent. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is because they were clearly understaffed- ie., 1 bartender and no available waiters during a trivia contest in one of the bars. One manager asked me if I was being served and when I said I was waiting, she seemed to be fine with that and turned her attention away from me. I was waiting for the bartender to bring me a bottled beer and he was clearly in the weeds.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
All good! Lovely, classic design, and clean.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
The size was spacious and the balcony was great - very important to have at least a window on an Alaskan Cruise to see the Mountain View’s each morning. Classic design, clean, and well attended to.
Ship tip
Enjoy! Great late night cranberry cookies - seriously to die for!
My favorite part of my trip was my excursion to the Taku Lodge which included a float plane trip through the glaciers and a delicious salmon feast at the end! Best excursion ever!
Went on the train ride, which was rickety and left you at a very far place from where you picked up the train and they neglected to tell you this - also it was 45 min later than reported - booked through separate site - don’t do this. Had a spruce tip ale which was delicious at Skagway Brewery - wish they could sell this back home. Very small town tourist feel.
Did the zip line which is so much more than expected because you drive through town of Hoonah to get there and see eagles, deer, and amazing views! The shopping is concentrated and people are wonderful! It’s very well organized and a beautiful stop! Since there is only one ship at a time, it is so much better and worth it!!
I wish i had more time and missed out on doing more because of the added limits on time from using a tinder. I went on a boat ride to see whales, but saw none.☹️ It was beautiful in any case!
No excursions here, just walked around town and took photos. Ate at Annabelle’s which was awesome! Had dungenous crab that came with delicious homemade herb bread! There was a lot of road construction when we were there, so I’m sure it’s better without that. Creek Street had the Most unique shopping of any port of call on this cruise. You must stop and shop here!
The Empress Hotel is the place to go for the best deserts you will ever have! I went on a whale watching tour and still didn’t see any whales but saw sea lions and eagles. I missed out on Butchart Gardens due to time and energy but would love to go back for that! Beautiful city!
