Review summary

Great adventure. Great crew/staff. Clean ship. Definitely planning another Alaskan cruise, but will likely go higher (Anchorage, Denali, etc.) and likely a land and sea.

Embarkation

Great! Smooth. No issues.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Staff was awesome! Food was incredible!! Facilities very clean and inviting. And might I give some kudos to the staff keeping the soda machines full and in-service. I had the soda package and never had a problem getting what I wanted at the machines. My last cruise, I found myself having to go to the bars quite often as the machines would be out of what I wanted.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Didn't really partake in these on the ship, partially because of location, but those in use that I saw looked inviting.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Performances were very good. I especially enjoyed the husband/wife juggling/acrobatic show.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Head waiter (Leo), Waiter (Ronny), and Assistant Waiter (Wan) were all great. Our housekeeper (Agus) was top-notch. All other staff encounters were extremely present.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Very clean, well maintained. If there is any point of contention, it is the elevator wait times. The Icon supposedly has solved this issue, but it is definitely a bottleneck area that needs to be improved.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Very nice. Agus kept it very clean. Loved the balcony, even though it was pretty cold most days to stay out there too long, but did so as much as possible.

Very nice port. We were a little bummed that we could not go to Scagway as originally planned. Had a Yukon rail excursion planned that we were really looking forward to. But, not Royal's fault. The Scagway port had too much construction going on to make it feasible for a stop.

CRUISE ENDICOTT ARM & DAWES GLACIER

3 out of 5
Couldn't get as close as we wanted but that isn't Royal's fault, just the conditions of the Arm at the time we went and couldn't get close enough for safety reasons.

Didn't actually get off the ship here. Had an excursion booked but it was last day and we were too tired to leave the ship at 8p.

Disembarkation

Very smooth. Not a very long wait at all, but we did have the key card, which helped immensely
