Review summary

Great vacation getaway to Alaska. We had gone on an Alaskan cruise in 2016 and enjoyed it so much that we had to do it again. Staff were excellent. The only shore excursion disappointment was at Icy Straits. We did a river hike to see bears but it rained and they didn't show up. No risk, no reward. We tried new adventures such as tandem kayaking which was fantastic! The guides made it so easy for us. I wish we had more time in Juneau for shopping. We spent all our time hiking and enjoying the mountains and glaciers. No regrets! My wife and I even had a chance to try karaoke with a fantastic band! It was a blast! Highly recommend the cruise.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Excellent, we waited until the appropriate check-in time and our embarkation was simple and smooth.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We really enjoyed our main dining room experience. The wait staff were excellent and My Time Dining really worked well with our schedule. We were able to change the dining time a few nights to accommodate our plans. The buffet was always good but sometimes overcrowded.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
I really enjoyed the fitness center since I typically have the habit of working out for 30-60min every morning. It was typically crowded early on in the cruise but less crowded as the cruise progressed. I also loved the hot tub when it wasn't crowded. Great to have them on an Alaskan cruise.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The stage performances and musicians are absolutely fabulous! I thoroughly enjoyed the main shows and also the different bands throughout the various pubs and bars. It seemed like every venue was packed with people enjoying the music.

Children's Programs

No kids on this trip.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Waiters and room stewards were great, super friendly. The guest services staff were always professional and kind.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Overall design of the Quantum of the Seas was excellent. The ship was well maintained.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
The cabin was great and I loved the location. We were mid-ship and conveniently located. The only reason I would give this a 4/5 is that we heard many mechanical sounds whenever the shipped docked or undocked in the middle of the night.

Ship tip

Try to become familiar with the ship layout when you first arrive. Enjoy as much as you can about the ship. It's beautiful. There are plenty of places on the ship to enjoy. So many different venues for entertainment, eating, activities, and places to simply relax and look out at the ocean.

Disembarkation

Fantastic! It was simple and fast! We took our luggage with us and walked easily through the terminal. No waiting. We immediately found our shuttle bus and headed to the airport with plenty of time to catch our 10:50am flight.
