Review summary

We enjoyed the trip. It was nice to get away and unplug for a few days. The ship and staff were great. The food was nothing special and some was aweful. Watery eggs are Not appetizing.

Embarkation

We had a 2:00 check in time. Took the Seattle Shuttle from downtown to the port. Walked right in; from downtown to on board making dining reservations in less than 30 minutes!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
We had Chops for dinner on night 1. Keyshav was our waiter and he was amazing! The food was very good and I would say the best we had the entire trip. The breakfast at Windjammer was okay. The eggs were runny and the Washy Washy was annoying after the first couple of days. We had a coffee card and La Patisserie ran out of white chocolate syrup for coffee on the 2nd day. They didn’t have several of the pastries on their menu. The Windjammer was constantly running out of Diet Coke. I had a water bottle and a regular Yeti cup. I would try to fill both up in one trip but the machines would frequently lock me out for 10 minutes.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
We used the whirlpool in the solarium, but didn’t take advantage of anything else.

Entertainment

2 out of 5
We did Starwater and Sequins & Feathers. Not sure if there was a point to either one. The music and dancing were a lot alike and it was very loud. My watch kept showing a decibel level warning.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Keyshav was our waiter at Chops and he was the best of the best. 10/10! I don’t remember everyone else’s names, we at at the buffet a lot, but everyone we met was kind and helpful.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship was clean. Debbie was out cabin steward and kept things spick and span. The crew in the windjammer was always cleaning up tables so the turnover was fast on busy days.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
The beds were hard, but that’s the only complaint I have on the cabin. The storage was great. The 13th deck was up high enough that we had an overhang. It was chipping paint and left paint chips on the chairs and floor. It was great because it blocked the rain and wind. The problem was we were one deck before the outdoor pool so there was a lot of noise from kids running and deck chairs being moved.

Ship tip

Take Windex Wipes to wipe off the balcony glass. The salt water and air leaves spots and the glass is hazy so you can’t sit on the balcony and see the water, you have to stand up the entire time.

Use Seattle Shuttle to get to and from the port.

Alaska Fish House for lunch. Halibut fish and chips were amazing.

If you want to go to the Raptor center, don’t pay the price for a cruise line excursion. Take the free shuttle into town and then take the town public transit bus ($3 one way) to the state park entrance. It’s $15 to get into the Raptor Center. You can walk back from the center through the forest. Lunch at the brewing company was good but they’re were swamped and it took a while to get waited on.

CRUISE ENDICOTT ARM & DAWES GLACIER

The scenery was great but the glacier was fogged in and we couldn’t see anything. There was never an announcement that the ship was turning. Communication is not the strongest on this trip.

Whale watching and Mendenhall Glacier. It was raining and cold. Glacier was fogged in again and visibility was not good. So wet and cold we cut our time short to get out of the rain. Eat at Tracy’s Crab Shack. It was awesome! Well worth the money!

Victoria, British Columbia

Walked off the ship and kept walking downtown. Easy walk. Took about 30 minutes.

Gangway is off deck 5. If you are taking your luggage off ship, go to the Royal Theatre and leave from there. From elevators to deck 5 to the airport in less than an hour.
