Wonderful celebration for our 50th anniversary by CarlB2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

What a way to visit all of the islands while on a budget.

Everything you need right on the ship. Do as much as you wantLove or as little as you want. Ha a top Vegas style performance from a tribute to the four seasons as well as tribute to the Eagles. Both shows were great and had good crowds at both performances. Entertainment for all age groups.

Wonderful Trip by eyp413

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

The staff was the best part of the cruise.  I had read some nasty reviews on the staff's attitude prior to booking but I thought I would chance it.  I was pleasantly surprised.  My husband and I were met with smiling faces and they could not do enough for us.  We mentioned that we were celebrating a birthday and an anniversary to Kelani Cing (special mention) and we received chocolate covered strawberries in our stateroom.  In another instance, I mentioned that I deleted my pictures by mistake to a bar tender.  He sent chocolate covered pineapple to our stateroom.  That is what I call going the extra mile to make the passengers happy.  Never had this type of service on any previous cruises.Love  Our stateroom was always exceptionally clean but the commom area restrooms always needed attention.  The entertainment was terrific every night.

Good, but not the best. by technoman

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

Food was good. Service was poor one night (2 hours to eat dinner due to slow service). Restaurant hours of operation were not clear (daily brochure of activities & ship's TV channel had different times compared to the actual hours of operation). Some of the crew was fantastic, while others seemed "burned out."

Pleasant Voyage by sforan

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

The cruise was what I expected. Very nice and clean ship, recently renovated. Staff was very accommodating.Crusie ship entertainment was of a caliber that you would expect on a ship. There was plenty of nightly entertainment and activities to choose from. We ate only in the restaurants included in the price, the food was average to good, plenty of selections..Cruising to all the islands made it easy to see them all without constant flying and packing and unpacking. Embarkation and debarkation went smoothly. They employees of 'this cruise ship made all things easy and organized. We booked our excursions through United vacations rather then the cruise ship. This meant our tour groups were smaller and the lines less then the crusie ship excursions. Plenty of excursions to meet everyone's likes. All in all I would recommend this ship as a good way to enjoy the Hawaiian Islands.

Fantastic trip to the Hawaiian Islands. The Pride of America crew and staff were super. It was a fantastic way to see four of the more popular islands. Plenty of daily excursions to choose from.

Good way to see hawaii by cutters60

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

Enjoyed this cruise. Saw four major islands. Extra days in Oahu before the cruise is a plus. I know this cruise got mixed reviews. I found the staff very attentive, the food good, the large balcony stateroom clean and enough room. The entertainment was top rate as were the activities. You basically are on the ship only at night. There are several dining options. We ate mostly in Skyline dining room. Men can wear shorts and same menu as Liberty dining room. Buffet was good but I would rather sit down and be served. You can order double entree or appetizers if you want. There was enough choice. East meets west dining room needs reservation and I would suggest making one.

Great Cruise, trip of a lifetime.  Learned a lot of the Hawaiian history and saw lots of things on each island. Excursions we chose were great.  Would recommend to friends and family.  Cruise ship was great, good food.  Alcohol a little bit to expensive.

Great trip by lindsayloguidic

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

We enjoyed a wonderful trip on the Pride of America. It's not too large of a ship, and not overly fancy, however there was plenty to do. The cruise director and staff were very efficient and fun-loving. The food was tasty...not always warm in the Aloha Buffet though. Great service in the dining room was sporadic ... not something to be counted on!

NEVER EVER USE DELTA by lawrencewest

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

They are grossly negligent in the description of the room. For example, per the description I printed out when I booked, I was only missing:

a hallway, a bedroom, a bathroom, a walk-in closet, refrigerator, and a TV.

I couldn't change, the cruise was sold out. Delta said sorry.  Haven't returned any calls since.

Go directly to the NCL.com to book. They actually describe the room correctly.

Tailored toward an older crowd by jamisonwalker89

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

My wife and I were on our honeymoon. We enjoyed our trip overall, especially the islands, since they were all unique from each other. We thought the cruise did a good job with it's itinerary of the stops, but wished there could have been a day at sea to enjoy the ship more. I thought highly of our room steward and felt he did a great job. The only drawback we had was that we felt like we were on a "retirement" cruise, as it seemed the majority of the passengers were much older. I also wish the small events/competitions such as ping pong tournaments, bean bag toss, trivia etc happened in the evening, too. We missed most of those because we were making the most out of the islands while at port.

Cost was way too high by ritadupres

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

Cost was way too high for an interior room, paid over $2000 shows $599 on this form,

I was hoping as price decreased on line with as closer we get to the cruise date we were guaranteed the lowest price.  No additional items were offered.  Had we gone directly to NCL we could have benefited more with the offers given.

Escape to Paradise by wgsavage

My mom will never forget her '70th' birthday celebrated on the POA!  We had an amazing balcony room and welcome celebration.  The ports for Hawaii and crew were remarkable.  Always something to do and see.  The buffet and specialty restaurants were all good.  It was a trip of a life time and we are so glad to have made the trip on POA.

NCL..loved cruising the islands, but NCL is slipping in service and quality by Moleman

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

Loved experiencing the beautiful Hawaiin islands..so much to see and do. Zip lining 85 feet up in rain forest, snorkeling in Maui, hiking up Diamond Head..all amazing! The only disappointment was the noticeable decline in level of service of staff, due to shortage of experienced personnel. NCL's overall dining experience has also declined as compared to previous cruises. Quality of food in main dining rooms was average at best. To get a great meal we had to dine at specialty restaurants for substantially higher surcharges than NCL used to charge.(Cagney's Steak House) great food and service for additional charge $125. Past NCL cruises left us feeling pampered, this one left a lot to be desired...NCL..penny wise and pound foolish

Pride of America by kimlukeamanda

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

The favorite part of the cruise is of course the ports!  Unfortunately we were unable to tender in Kona due to a hurricane approaching.  Kauai was our favorite port.  The Marriott hotel is very close to the port with a great restaurant and fantastic sand beach.

The stateroom attendant we had was unfortunately not very good.  The wait staff in the main dining restaurants weren't very friendly and incredibly slow!  Maybe because this is mostly an American crew the standards are different then on other Norwegian ships.  Service is much better with international crew!

The entertainment staff were great!  Loved all the trivia!

Overall a great ship if you want to visit Hawaii!

Enjoyed this cruise and the range of samplings of the Hawaiian Islands. by SaeSar

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

The ship, Pride of America, is relatively small compared to the later ships, but quaint. Certainly appropriate enough for touring the Hawaiian Islands which is the main attraction.  The food was good as well as the entertainment.  But, the samplings of the different islands was great.  On the islands that we stayed over night was a nice treat, because you didn't feel rushed to try and do everything in a few hours. We didn't see the lava flow for safety reasons, due to the approaching storm, but I would definitely recommend this cruise.

VeryGoodNCL by zchen97

If you would like to see more islands in Hawaii vacation for 7-10 days, the cruise ship is perhaps the best choice. That's why I picked the Pride of America this time. I was totally happy with the time I spent on cruise. We experienced the impact of hurricane Lester on August 29, 2016 and thus the original plan to visit Kona on big island was cancelled and route was also changed. It passed the Molokai and gave us a breathtaking view for the beauty of Molokai island, and the Napali valley on Kauai island during our one day at sea. I saw almost all I would like to see on the each of stopped islands and have no complains at all. If any improvement, I would suggest to let each one know cleaning hand (by using alcohol spray) before entering the dinning room each time (it seems not always strictly implemented). I would like to know the stateroom clean up time; it seems a little too late for the evening clean time in particular. I would recommend others to take the Pride of America if they have a chance. Thank you!

An Amazing Cruise on the Pride of America to the Hawaiian Islands..... by jahljj

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

This was one of the best cruises my family and I have ever been on.

Excellent service, fantastic food, and the seeing the Hawaiian Islands.....WOW.

Service was outstanding.  From the cabin attendant to the dining staff.....to the Captain and his wonderful crew.   They truly were, the P-Performance R-Respect

I-Impressive D-Dedicated E-Excellence.

The staff had outstanding Performance from all we encountered.  With a smile and attention to detail.  The Respect they gave to each of us was so very nice.  Each was Impressive in their own right.  They were Dedicated to making sure we had a wonderful and exciting time.  They exemplified the true Excellence the Norwegian Cruise line wants for provide for each of it's customers.

Each island has it's own culture and beauty.  Maui, Hilo, Kona, and Kauai were a sight to behold.  You will be taking photograph after photograph to capture the wonderful sights.... The Captain is to be applauded for taking the ship to see the flowing lava from the active volcano on the Big Island.  What a spectacular sight to see at night as the searing lava is flowing into the ocean.  WOW!!!!

On the last day on the cruise, he steered the ship to the beautiful coastline of Na Pali on the coast of Kauai.  You will be smiling from ear to ear from seeing such a natural wonder.  Simply stunning and totally breath taking.
