Review summary

Cruising on the Oosterdam was a great experience.  We understood that there would be an older crowd and found it to be so.  That is not to say, however, that this was in any way a dull cruise.  There was a lot to do while on board and the ship offers many places to gather and activities.  You can enjoy tea every afternoon, great happy hours in the Crow's Nest or Ocean Bar, classical performances on the Lincoln Center stage, culinary demonstrations sponsored by the Food and Wine magazine as well as dueling pianos, a fun Blues bar and entertaining shows in the main theater.  This ship was very clean and quiet.  Perfect for a two week get away.

Cabin / Stateroom

The cabin has a great view, but is located under the Lido pool area and can be noisy. We could hear items dragging on the floor above but the noise would end each evening around 9 so our rest was not disturbed. The plus is that it is very close to the stairs - one level to the dining room so running up for a cup of coffee to sit with on the veranda, for example, was very handy.

Ship tip

For example: Truly loved the Crow's Nest for some needed coziness. The ship was well taken care of and clean.

We noticed that too. How do you find out age of people cruising? We liked not having kids everywhere but would have liked a little bit younger crowd. We're in our 50's.
