GREAT TIME by AnneO1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Spirit / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

We enjoyed ourselves and found that the ship's personnel was wonderful-very helpful, pleasant and courteous. It took a few days to get familiar with some parts of the ship but that only gave us a small challenge and lots of laughs when we tried to find our way again. All in all there was very little to complain about. We enjoyed ourselves and are looking forward to booking additional cruises.

We had the best time! by EileenH7

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Spirit / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

We enjoyed this cruise very much. It was our first and will not be our last. The best thing that I did was book a balcony room. We spent quite a bit of time on the balcony and just loved it. I can't say enough about the wonderful staff on this ship - all were extremely helpful and pleasant. We don't like being told when and where to eat so Freestyle Dining will keep us coming back to Norwegian Cruise Lines.

Cruise of the Year by LeonardA1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Spirit / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

We recently returned from a great 11-night cruise (round trip from New York) on the Norwegian Spirit to the Caribbean. The food and its presentation were outstanding in the dining rooms. The ship's ambience was excellent and its layout was easy to learn. We had a great cabin at the bow of the ship which allowed us to watch our approaches and dockings. The ship's itinerary was especially well planned. We had two days at sea, six great ports, then two days at sea. The cruise was entitled as the "Exotic Caribbean". Even though there were passengers that were late in returning to the ship we did not sail without them. We also were ready to assist a sailboat in distress on one of our last sea days. We would highly recommend this voyage and ship to fellow cruisers regardless of whether they have cruised in Caribbean waters. Sincerely, Leonard and Nancy H., North Las Vegas, NV

it was nice by AudreyJ

this was a caribbean cruise, you would think they would have provided at least caribbean restaurant with a caribbean cuisine! they were every type of restaurant but caribbean. That would have been part of the caribbean to have a cuisine. The garden restaurant need to be redecorated to reflect the name!

Never again by CindyC20

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Spirit / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

I hate to have to bring such bad news home from our 10 day trip but. We have cruised every year for the last 12 years. This was our second NCL. We selected a guaranteed balcony for us and an outside cabin for my parents (We were fortunate enough to be able to take them on their first cruise in 20 years. We were very excited.) We thought it would be a great idea to travel out of NY as we are from MD and my parents from DE (no airline hassles). After spending one night in our cabin we returned from breakfast to find a bug crawling on our curtain. I thought (rather afraid) I knew what it was but asked my mom for confirmation. Yep, sure enough, bed bugs. They were everywhere! Behind the bed, in the sleeper, in the curtains, etc. We killed and caught several and proceeded immediately to reception to speak with a manager privately. We spoke with the asst front desk manager and were told to give them an hour to figure out where they would move us to while they exterminated our cabin. After voicing my serious concerns about our personal belongings they offered to launder anything we wanted. Later that day we were moved (I should say *we* moved our belongings with out assistance) from deck 10 aft (balcony) to deck 6 very forward porthole! (Well at this point we hope it is far enough away from our original stateroom that the new one may be safe.) That took the better part of our first day at sea and we were unable to participate in any activities or formal night. All of our empty luggage remained in the room as it was stored under the bed and we could not bring ourselves to go under there again. Im not kidding when I say it was alive! The bedding and sleeper were filthy with fecal matter, dried blood and living bugs of all sizes! The front desk contacted us to let us know that they would extend an onboard credit, a complimentary dinner at a specialty restaurant and a bottle of wine. Big deal! The credit barley covered the difference between staterooms! They acted like it was generous! They replied that they needed authorization from Miami to do anything further. We tried to enjoy the second day at sea but we were now experiencing inflammation from the bites we received on the first night and constant itching. Later that evening we received a call from the front desk management that Miami has extended an additional small credit. Meanwhile we still itch and can not sleep! Finally, we get to the island itinerary (5 days) and can spend some time off of the ship and think about something other than bugs. But no, now we are overhearing other people talk about rashes, and something biting them. This how we realized the entire ship is affected. Nope we are not sleeping through the night anymore. We keep waking and itching all through the nights. On the morning of our 8th day I awoke with a rather large bed bug running down my arm! After screaming and cursing I captured and took the little sucker to the hotel manager. I tried to explain that I feared the entire ship has a serious problem. He stated that he had a terrific extermination team however, acknowledged that docking in NYC presents a particular problem as NYC is known to have a dramatic bed bug problem. He was sympathetic as I explained that we are terrified that we are going to bring this problem home with us (as these things are efficient hitch-hikers) but offered no advice or assistance. I asked that we be provided with a letter acknowledging our complaint so I may have some instrument to persuade NCL to take some responsibility should we in fact bring this home, but that we would not get. So we have just spent our evening emptying our suitcases in our driveway (outside), sorted our laundry into plastic bags and sealed them. We will store our luggage in the shed and hope that mice do not inhabit them until a good freeze can kill any potential bugs or eggs. My parents also have bites and they are following the same procedures. I will consult with an exterminator.

Not a good shop to be on for 10 nights. by WendyL4

The ship is too small for a 10 night trip and there aren't much activities on the ship to entertain everyone during the long sea days.

A Great Cruise! by Roberta111

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Spirit / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

If this were the first ship of NCL that we cruised on, it would have been wonderful. But our first ship was the Dawn and it spoiled us a bit. Better buffet, better service at the restaurant, tastier food. Also, not enough conveniently placed toilets.

Our Fantastic Honeymoon by LauraL15

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Spirit / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

We got on the ship early & walked around taking photos & had lunch in Raffles - our room was ready at 2pm just as we were told. Everything was clean & smelled fresh. The ship was a great size and only a couple of areas (the casino & bars) smelled of smoke. The pool area was clean & the music was always pleasant & happy. We were very pleased with the ship.

Boarding was well organized and fairly quick. First impressions were very good. The ship was clean, well-maintained at all times. THe staff was very friendly, helpful and afficient. They seemed to set very high standards across the board and for my own experience they maintained them at all times. I had no bad experiences with any NCL staff.

A wonderful cruise on a beautiful ship! by EvelynG

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Spirit / Destination: Caribbean

I recently returned from a cruise on the NCL (the Spirit) This was my experiencing cruising with NCL and my first experience with free-style cruising and dining. I thoroughly enjoyed the concept of free-style dining because it allowed you to eat where and when you wanted. I celebrated my birthday by having dinner at Cagney;s and the surf and turf was the bomb. In addition, I was surprised by the staff with a very tasty birthday cake. All was well and I will definitely use NCL again.

Never Again by HamiltonN

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Spirit / Destination: Caribbean

Give me Give me Give me !!!!!!! that should be the theme of this cruise. it seems everything had a price tag and i probably paid to breathe on that ship and didn't even realize.spent about $1200.00 in drinks alone between wife and self and about $1500.00 at the casino and didn't even get a free round of drinks while i saw other people getting rounds for free.....i can only figure that they spent damn near 10,000.00 on the ship.although most of the staff were very polite, there were a few that were very rude and acted as if they didn't need our business. those must have been the one's that were guaranteed a tip.... missed a dinner reservation because something happened where my cellphone time did not adjust to ships time and i arrived an hour late... they refused to hear my explaination and charged me for the cancellation... there was several other issues which angered me but i dont want to sound like a bitter person but i have gone on several cruises in the past and disembarked happy as a fly on sh** with no complaints. i have been on 7 cruises with different cruise lines and i will never ever give NCL another dime from my pocket. I highly recommend Princess and Royal caribbean. Carnival was good too.. never ever ever do Norwegian....just my opinion.

ONE NICE SHIP by JohnS56

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Spirit / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

While it's not the newest ship out there it is still very nice. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The only problem I had was the mattress on the bed. We traveled on this ship twice and both times the mattress was just uncomfortable. the only good thing was by the time you got to bed you were too exhausted to think about it. But in the mourning you woke up with a back ache. Nothing a half hour in a hot tube can't fix.

We expected better! by Jm74873067

Ship: Norwegian Spirit / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

We loved the excursions and Great Stirrup Cay. The condition of our room was horrible. Rust and mildew in and around the shower, a sewage smell in the commode area and the cleanliness of the sleeping area was less than maintained. We also found many crew members to be somewhat discourteous.

My first cruise by StevenB2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Spirit / Destination: Caribbean

This was my first cruise and as such with nothing to compare it to I will say that it was a very good experience. However, I have to say t hat the food in the buffet was not always hot enough and for that reason free style dining was not what I would consider the best idea. But overall the staff and crew were very friendly, the shows were wonderful and there were plenty of activities on board although a lot of them centered around alcohol of which I do not indulge.
