Review summary

I like Norwegian CruiseLine and believe I received a fair to a good value. I felt the need to see Alaska and I can now remove from my bucket list. The weather was cool to cold with mist or overcast most every day. I did enjoy this cruise, but I have 'no' desire to ever go on another Alaskan cruise. I personally believe Alaska and the scenery is oversold.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Considering all the paperwork and requirements Norwegian had this down, with very little bottlenecks.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Plus: many menus/choices to choose and excellent service. Minus: Beef lacked taste and lower quality food/ low price choices

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
The fitness center was open, and machines were available. nothing of interest for this old man.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Comedy performers were both excellent, and they offered both 'PG' and 'R' rated shows. The performance: Blazen Boots was one of the best and most professional shows I have watched. Every other show and performance were either adequate or very good.

Children's Programs

No children

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
This cruise was just over 50% of maximum guests so this allowed more personal time with waiters and others. I felt that everyone went the extra mile to make me happy and enjoy my cruise experience.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Ship was in very good condition and was kept clean, when there was a need of repair or maintenance, the staff was on it.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
I was traveling solo so the size was more than adequate, the sliding door to my veranda was perfect, no leaks or noise. Bathroom was better than most. nice shower. I didn't like the 5~6 step from bathroom, first day I fell and broke my glasses and closet door.

Ship tip

Old ship with excellent crew.

Cruise Hubbard Glacier

The ship chose not to enter the bay because of excessive fog, we felt they should have waited a few hours to see if the fog cleared. Just one more day at sea.

Haines, Alaska

4 out of 5
The day before we were to arrive at Haines, I received a notice that we were going to cross into Canada and more requirements (paperwork) was require. I canceled this excursion ` "Canadian gov't sucks". I did walk into town and found this a very welcoming town.

Juneau, Alaska

Disembarkation

Very easy and relaxing. I do not like the end of cruise.

Appreciate your feedback. While I enjoyed our visit to Alaska, I don’t need to return. Being from Colorado, I didn’t find the mountains exceptional. I must admit we don’t have whales or icebergs, but we have many of the other critters people watch for in Alaska. I am not putting Alaska down, it is exceptionally beautiful. I just prefer sailing somewhere that has things different than what I see every day.

Problem with just one trip to Alaska is the weather is ever changing, one week could be nice, the next week could be cold fog and rain.
