Worse cruise ever. Captain Teo Radun made decisions way in advance to cancel ports of Iceland which was the whole featured destination of this cruise. In addition weather reports did not support his reason for cancelling these ports. Everyone we talked to on ship was very disappointed and agreed that Iceland destination was the only reason they were on this cruise. Iceland cruises are also higher cost than other cruises because of this destination and passengers were given a 'discount' of a whole $60 for missing these two ports. Also they gave us a promise of 25% off a future cruise which is ridiculous. We should not have to cruise with them again to get this discount. It should be refunded on the amount we paid for this cruise.
Actually a rating of 3.9 is higher than I would ever give to this cruise. This is Captains fault not the crew though.
Embarkation
4 out of 5
Embarkation was OK except upon checking in we were told first port of Amsterdam had already been cancelled. Crew told passengers that this had been announced to them several days earlier however we had not been informed of this until checking in at the port.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
The most basic menu we have ever had. Only seafood most of the time was fish of some type. I think shrimp was only on menu one time.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
OK but not great.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
Singers and dancers were great. Also had an acrobat show that was terrific. Other entertainment was OK.
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
We had great service from wait staff in the Windows. Cabin crew was OK but they sure were late getting to the cabins.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
Cleaning staff did an excellent keeping the ship clean.
Cabin / Stateroom
2 out of 5
Worse balcony room we have ever had and we are frequent cruisers.
Captain cancelled 4 days before we were supposed to get there with the excuse of a storm. Of course storm did not go there and according to weather reports it was headed for Ireland - not Iceland.
Captain cancelled 5 days before we were supposed to get there with the excuse of a storm. Of course storm did not go there and according to weather reports it was headed for Ireland - not Iceland.
Ship is totally unorganized with this process. Wheelchair guests were told to go to Henry's Pub and then had to sit and wait almost an hours while one crew member took off guests one at a time. Almosty missed the NCL transfer to airport because of this.
I'm only commenting here just remind everyone that cruise lines are not responsible for cancelled ports. No Captain of any cruise ships makes that decision lightly. The decision to miss apart due to weather conditions makes sense. Dor any other reason, that's at the discretion of the countries that own those ports. All Cruise Lines clearly specify in all of their documents that they are not responsible (and you'll get no compensation or refund except for parts and taxes) for missed or cancelled ports. So the lesson is to read your entire Cruise Contract, read your entire Terms of Service.
