I won't book another Norigean cruise again. I have booked a Royal Caribean cruise for 2018 for 14 nights. I love cruising but this was by far the worst customer service I have experienced on a cruise.

Food and Dining
1 out of 5
The ships food was terrible! I have been on 17 cruises and this was by far the worst food offered. The best way to describe the buffet is prepackaged, cooked and slopped into a bowl. Any left over food was recycled into the next day's buffet. The food in the main dining room was equally as bad and made worse by the terrible service. Upon entering the main dining room we were greeted by two hostesses bad mouthing the passengers. The servers never introduced themselves and seemed bothered that we came in for dinner at 9:00 pm. As soon as our main dish was served we were told the dining hall was closing which I find odd since everyother cruise I have been on serves meals in the main dining room until 10:30. I guess that when tips are automatically charged to your bill there is no need to offer good service.
Onboard Activities

The spa was average and the fitness center was good. However, there was only one small adult pool on the ship and it wasn't very clean, so we didn't use it.

The shows were okay and nothing special.
Service and Staff

The service was terrible! The waiters In the main dining room were rude and never once refilled our water glasses. They were too busy standing around complaining about the passengers and made no attempt to give proper service. I waited tables for 5 years while in college and I was appauled by how rude they were. Again, their tips are per-charged to the travelers bills so they don't have to work for them. Additionally, the male staff seemed to have issues with the female guests and were extra rude to them.
Our room steward never brought us ice after asking many times. I gladly would have got it myself but there was no ice bucket in our room. Our towels were not changed unless I went and took clean towels off the mails cart. The trash in our room was not emptied unless I took it to the maids cart to dump it. Since this was an 11 night cruise it would be expected that our room would be serviced and the towels changed out. Additionally, I decorated the exterior of our cabin door with a banner that said "Graduate 2017" to celebrate our sons graduation. After returning from a shore day the banner was removed and placed in our cabin. When I asked why they took it down they said it was a fire hazard??? On the inside of our cabin I had 6 spiral stars hanging from the ceiling and they took those down too. Again they said it was a fire hazard. It's funny that everyother ship we have been on they never complained about us decorating the doors or cabin. Now if you pay the cruise line the cabin will be decorated with the same material. Again, I think the staff had an issue with me as a female traveling alone with my kids. My husband couldn't go due to his work.
Ship Quality

The ship we travelled on was the Noregian Spirit and it was very dated. The layout was so odd that I asked one of the crew members why it was designed that way and she told me that the ship was originally an Asian gambling ship that was dry docked and sleeping rooms added.
Cabin / Stateroom

We had a balcony cabin and it was very small compared to other balcony cabins we have stayed in previously. The is zero room to walk around the beds. The linens were old and needed to be replaced.
Ship tip
Take another cruise line or don't have high expectations.
Great if you visit Florence but don't book through the ship or you'll pay 3 times what you will pay if you take the bus into town. Our tour was great and we saw the same places as the cruise tour but we paid less then 40 euros each and the bus was very nice as was the guide.
Great city and make sure to take a boat tour to the caves. Don't waste you time with the cruise ship tour. Just walk out of the port and ask one of the tour sales people for a private boat tour. We paid 30 euros each and had a private Captian and spent the full day on the boat.
I'm also surprised to hear this, we were on Spirit in June this year, we were so impressed we are booked on her again for next year, all the crew we came into contact with were great
