The prices for the cruise itself are great- Just be prepared to pay for a lot of other things on the ship. There is also a per person- perday service charge that will be added to your bill (which I assume is standard) which can rack up a hefty bill the day you disembark from the boat.

Eat at Moderno (on the first night if you can). Order a "Mr. Worldwide". Bonus points if you order one in at least 3 bars.

I would say to bring a highlighter and read your Freestyle Daily every evening! There is SO much to do and it can be overwhelming if you're the type of person that likes to get out there and do stuff. But also make sure you leave time for just doing nothing. My two favorite spots were: 1) the Great Outdoors cafe on the aft of the ship. I'd sit out there for breakfast (usually getting food from the Garden Cafe) and then read afterwards while drinking coffee. It was so lovely! And 2) the Mandara Spa thermal suite. Now, the thermal suite is an extra cost but we got our money's worth! There was never many people there so you felt like you were in an exclusive place, and it's at the bow of the ship so we were able to watch as we pulled into port from there.

Check and recheck the local time. As the time zones moved back and forth, we missed out on a few events we planned to attend (including raffles and drawings where your presence is required) despite our best efforts to keep up with the accurate time. And until they fix their luggage check in process, just print your bag tags at home so you can skip the line. Also do the "easy walk off" if you can. Prepare yourself for the first day or two which are like your worst Saturday trip to Costco: people wandering slowly without paying attention to where they are going nor that other people are trying to pass by them. There were a few groups of reckless bratty kids running around unsupervised, and I wish there was a policy that allowed staff to require trouble makers to have an adult with them.

As stated unfortunately I would not recommend traveling on Norwegian ships. I guess I have been a bit spoiled in the past but I certainly did expect more on the high end food quality and seafood expectations. I would most certainly in the future look for a better quality trip and get one for the amount that I paid for this one.

Avoid the buffet and specialty dining. Main dining rooms are very nice, with many tables for two, to avoid forced congeniality.

Love the Pearl and found the food, crew and ship along with NCL to be above all the other cruise lines out there.

Was disappointed we did not see glaciers from the ship during the cruise as we had expected; we would have chosen a different cruise. Wish I had been prepared for the jewelry in Juneau.

Mid ship rooms are convenient to most areas and watch which side of the ship you are on, compared to the direction you are heading for best views. We were on the Starboard (right) side and faced the water for 75% of our cruise, the Port side had land views whenever we were close enough. This was my biggest disappointment on room location.

If the food in Indigo or Summer Palace isn't good the first time, don't expect it to get better. Try the buffet, Lotus Garden & O'Sheahan's, all of which are excellent.
