Most relaxing vacation by MyrnaB

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Pearl / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The ship was beautiful and huge. Yet it was easy to find your way around, all signage was great. The balcony cabins were the best.

NCL PEARL - SOUTHERN CARIBBEAN by PatriciaO2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Pearl / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

This was the quickest I have ever gotten on a ship. Since we pre-registered, we just walked in, gave our credit card, had a picture taken and that was that. The ship was beautiful, the crew great. We couldn't get my 8 year niece out of the kids club, she had so much fun. This was my 6th NCL cruise, (I have sailed with others) and this is well worth the money.

beyond belief for my wheel chair Son by JackB4

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Pearl / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We did not know that this ship the pearl was going to meet the needs of our wheelchair son. The electric chair was waiting for him and the movement he got was unreal-no problems getting around or going out on his own and getting one of his many cokes with his card. Thank you all for a wonderful experience and the two guys on ;the 11 floor Ron and Edward who saw to all of our sons needs -even making sure his wheelchair was ok--Thank you -Jack-Diane and Chadd

Great fun on the Pearl by Jeand11

Sail date: / Traveled as:
Ship: Norwegian Pearl / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was a great cruise. It helped that the weather was beautiful. This was the first time that we experienced free style dining and we liked it. The specialty restaurants were overpriced. Cagneys was definitiely not worth the money. Food was mediocre, staff was apathetic and the added gratuity to drinks and food added up. The food and service at Summer Palace was great! Excursions were okay, would have liked a little more explanation regarding liquor limits and customs limits.

This large ship supprised me. by VictorJ1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Pearl / Destination: Caribbean

Being a new ship, most everything worked well and was moden. Most impressed how it handeled over 2000 passengers without much congestion. The 12 elevators were for the most part adaquit. Many times I was the only passenger in an elevator. The buffet dining room (Garden Cafe) was a pleasant supprise all round.

Outstanding cruise experience! by DavidT11

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Pearl / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

A new ship, very clean and conscious of the need for sanitation. Over 4000 passangers and crew with no public reports of sickness on our cruise. Room service was excellent. Lots of things to do, even bowling with ultra-modern equipment. It was a lot of fun, great shows, and an easy going atmosphere. We plan to do it again.

A fun family cruise by RinaG

Sail date: /
Ship: Norwegian Pearl / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Norwegian Cruise LIne is a fun cruise line for your family. The staff wants you to have a great cruise and does this by providing excellent service in whatever restaurant you choose to eat in as well as providing around the clock fun things for the kids and adults to do. The Pearl is a beautiful boat offering a bowling alley and rockwall climbing for the kids. Their two story television screen was a great place to watch the Giants game with a few hundred people inthe crystal atrium.

we had a good time but.... by AvaC

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Pearl / Destination: Caribbean - Western

the cruise director did not do a very good job. Not alot of activities for families or things with a broad range. The shows were not great. Loading the tenders was handled in a very poor faashion. Exiting the ship to go home was a very dangerous proposition. there were long lines and a lack of comminication with the ships staff. Workers were cleaning the portholes of the boat, but the water spilled back on the gangwat that people were using to leave. This left a very slippery surface. Many people fell including my husband. There should have been staff to help with the luggage instead of just telling people be careful.

1st time cruiser,will be back! by MaryM49

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Norwegian Pearl / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was my 1st cruise. It took 3 days to get to know the ship and the drill.Next time it will be easier.I thought the excursion from Cozumel(Ixaret)was a "rip-off".They want to charge you extra for everything you do in the park.Next time I'll stay in Cozumel. The food overall was fabulous! The specialty restraunts were wonderful, but even the food spots you don't need to pay extra for were great.Don't plan on dieting while on a cruise!

What a ship! by SharronF

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Pearl / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

After cruising last on the Pride of Aloha from Honolulu, we were terribly disappointed with NCL. But the Pride of Aloha proved to be a fluke, as most of our NCL cruises have been great. The Pearl is a beautiful, almost new ship that makes you feel at home immediately. It's very large but easy to find your way around. The rock climbing wall was amazing, and though we didn't use it, the bowling alley looked like fun. Our inside stateroom was meticulously maintained by our room stewards, who went out of their way for us. The public rooms were lovely. Service was amazing everywhere we went. The only problem we had was getting a reservation for LaCucina. Even when we got up early and were third in line at 8am, a terse and unfriendly woman told us that they were already out of early reservations for the following day (how could that happen?) But, on our last day we finally got in through a wonderfully helpful Maitre de named Carlos. So we made it and were happy. Nine days was not too long for us. However, the port of Samana was so poor and depressing. We were approached by begging hungry children just after walking off the dock. We also heard of two separate groups that were held up at gunpoint and knifepoint on excursions - scary! The food was not as good as NCL has been in the past. But, all in all, a great experience.

NICE SHIP NCL Pearl by Nikki

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Norwegian Pearl / Destination: Caribbean - Western

NCL Pearl is a beautiful ship, normal-sized cabins, standard for industry but lots of beautiful public rooms. Fun things to do: bowling, rock climbing, basketball, shows, Internet Cafe, lounges, casino, etc. The food is okay, that is the best rating I can give, I have had better and I have had worse. The food in the speciality restaurants, these are the restaurants you pay $10.00-20.00 service charge pp, these restaurants were a lot better than the dining room. Teppenaki was exceptional, very much like Bennihanna and the food was delicious and plentiful. Mambo's is a restaurant that is free, but you need reservations, I would recommend this restaurant too...it had good tex-mex type of food. The staff on this ship was very accomodating and nice. The pool area is typical of most cruise ships, too many people and too little chairs, hot tubs, and pool to accomodate all of the passengers. Many days, the pool area was like walking the streets of NYC, just too many people to be enjoyable. There was a waterslide that was cool for adults and children alike, my kids loved it. The kids, Aqua Club was exceptional, terrific staff, my kids never wanted to leave.
