Norwegian Pearl

Review summary

This was a 10 day cruise and we loved every minute of it, 10 days is so much better that 7.

Embarkation

3 out of 5
We had a very long wait to board. There was some customs issue clearing the ship which caused us a few hours of waiting in a crowded room.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The buffet was reasonable, but we felt the specialty restaurants were well worth the charge, especially Cagney’s. Moderna Brazilian grill was excellent, we had that meal twice.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
We just drank, slept, ate and hung out in the spinnaker lounge quite a bit. There was always something going on there.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Not the best shows we’ve seen, but loved the salsa band. They were so much fun and we filled where ever they played on the ship.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
The staff were generally good.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
This ship was well taken care of and cleaner than most.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
I really like the unique cabin layout on this ship. One of the best bathroom layouts we’ve seen.

Ship tip

I would sail on the Pearl again, book it!

Ports of call

Vancouver (Ballantyne Pier), Canada

3 out of 5
One of the worst ports we have embarked from.

Skagway, Alaska

5 out of 5
I love Skagway, plenty of places to have a meal and a drink, some good hiking close by. The White Pass railway is worth the money if you have a clear day, but you would really miss out on the views if it is overcast. Take a long walk to the cemetery and waterfall, well worth the walk.

Icy Strait Point (Hoonah), Alaska

5 out of 5
I like this stop. Some people complain that there is nothing there. Take the mile and a half walk to Hoona, lots to see and you will see whales spouting very close to shore.. lots of them!

Cruise Glacier Bay

4 out of 5
We have seen all of the glaciers the ships cruise to. This in the least impressive of all. The glaciers are small and dirty. Nothing even close to the Hubbard glacier experience, that is one you MUST see.

Seattle, Washington

2 out of 5
We avoid Seattle like the plague. Once was such a great city, now it’s a hell hole of traffic and drug addicts.

Juneau, Alaska

4 out of 5
Juneau is our least favorite Alaska stop, but still worthwhile.

Sitka, Alaska

5 out of 5
Get up early and get your camera out. Coming into Sitka is one of the most beautiful settings I’ve ever seen.

Ketchikan, Alaska

5 out of 5
We always enjoy our Ketchikan visits.

Victoria, British Columbia

3 out of 5
We’ve been to Victoria plenty of times, we stay on the ship and enjoy a spa day while everyone else is gone.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Super easy. We were able to be one of the last passengers to disembark. Kicking and screaming.
