Book the Vibe Beach Club if the weather will be decent. So much space, great bartender Chris Alias and crew and you can actually get to spend time in the hot tubs. The main pool deck is tiny and loud and chaotic and Spice H2O is also small and primarily geared to smokers or kids/teens using the hot tub after 7pm. Also a great alternative for lack of thermal spa on this ship.

The communication for change in itinerary was very poor!!! NCL knew about this before we departed, however they did not let the passengers know until we got to our rooms. They were not willing to make any concessions for the inconvenience and only credited $10, which did not even cover port charges for that day.

Prepare for changes and cancelations. They won't tell you something is canceled till 6-7 pm the day before your activity or excursion and will say don't worry we won't charge you for it as if that is somehow consolation

Overall the Joy was very nice. But I don't think it's worth the added expense compared to other ships like the Breakaway or Escape.

don't book rooms in the front or the back of the ship unless you like to walk alot.

Pay for all the dining and drinking and Wifi plans. Book your entertainment before you get on the ship or immediately upon boarding

Check out the Observation Lounge on Deck 15 forward, and excellent space to read, relax, play cards, nap, etc. They even offer limited food options and a bar.

Book all shows and restaurants way in advance. Don’t let them charge you to much on the service charge you can tell them what u want to pay.

Don't do cabo. We spent alot of money for the cruise we only got 3 hr in cabo they did not give us extra time for nothing they did not comp us on nothing. Then anchor would not go up. We was late to Ensenada did not give us extra time we lost a few hr and again they did not comp us. I will never go on norwegian joy again

Joy has had some mechanical issues. Several instances of propulsion problems. She had to be towed into port in November after Azipod failed. On the cruise after ours, she was delayed in leaving port at Cabo San Lucas as they were unable to raise the anchor. Be patient and go with the flow.

Don't go unless you're ready to wait in line forever for everything. They are the most disorganized ship I've ever been on out of probably 15+ cruises.
