Review summary

This was our first Norwegian cruise and overall a great cruise but the service and food was lacking compared to other cruise lines. We did really enjoy the Cagney's steak house. That was our best meal on the ship. The Galaxy Pavillion is a fun place with a lot of games and virtual reality experiences. I felt they didn't have a lot of activities on the itinerary compared to other cruise lines. Overall the ship was beautiful and we had a good time!

Ports of call

Ketchikan, Alaska

We rented a car through Alaska Car Rental. They have a shuttle that you can call to have them pick you up and drop you off at the Port, very convenient. We were able to check out the things we wanted to see on our own time. We drove out to Herring Cove and the Rainforest sanctuary. Saw lots of salmon but no bears. We drove around the main road and pulled over for some scenic view points. We were able to get some beautiful pictures. We then went over to Creek street and checked out the shops and brewery. Saw more salmon and Harbor seals in the creek. We very much enjoyed the town!

Seattle, Washington

We flew in a couple of days early and went over to Pikes Market and did some walking on the Waterfront. Beautiful views. We checked out the Seattle Aquarium. Very cute little spot but a little pricey for what you see. The second day we spent at Mt. Rainier National park which I highly recommend making the drive. Breathtaking views and we lucked out on a beautiful day with sunshine. Was definitely the highlight of our trip to Seattle.

Skagway, Alaska

We booked the Yukon rail and bus tour through Chilkoot charters and it was absolutely worth it. The tour took us on the White pass rail into Canada and then took the bus took us to Carcross. We visited the petting zoo, wildlife museum and checked out the Huskies and puppies. During our drive we spotted a bear and our driver stopped for pictures. We stopped at Emerald lake and took pictures with the Yukon sign and Welcome to Alaska sign. This excursion was the highlight of our cruise, truly amazing and some of the best scenery on our trip. We didn't walk around the town of Skagway as we didn't have much time but we did drive by it and would have liked to have more time so we could have checked it out.

Juneau, Alaska

We took a taxi to the Mendenhall glacier and did some of the short hikes. Beautiful scenery! The hike to Nugget Falls is definitely worth the walk! We did not do the Mt Roberts tram as it looked like a long wait and a lot of people crammed into one tram. We did shopping in the town and reviews suggested better souvenir prices in Ketchikan but we actually found better prices in Juneau. Great town!

Victoria, British Columbia

We took a taxi into the town and the Empress Hotel. We had some poutine and beer flights at an Irish pub. I wish we had more time at this spot
