Review summary

We all enjoyed ourselves. If I do this again I would make it a north or southbound cruise instead of a round trip to have more time at each port. Overall I thought The Joy was a great ship

Embarkation

There were lines but they moved quickly

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The included restaurants were very good. The Buffet was ok but it was a buffet. I ate at 3 specialty restaurants Cagneys, LaCuccina and Q. All were excellent though the dinner at Cagneys did take awhile. Q was fabulous. If I could give it 10 stars I would.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
We did the race track and laser tag. I thought both were a little pricey for the time that you had. The race track we did not enjoy as other drivers kept hitting us. The laser tag was a lot of fun

Entertainment

5 out of 5
We saw Elements which was great and Footloose which was ok. We took part in a lot of the other activities such as learning dances, completing songs and guessing band names. It was always a lot of fun

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Everyone was cheerful, helpful and friendly. Our room steward was great!

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
All areas were very clean. The staff was always cleaning up and dirty dishes or glasses did not remain on a table for very long. The Observation Lounge was the best place on the ship to hang out and relax

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The room was kept very clean. For 3 adults it was a little tight but having the balcony helped. The bed was very comfortable but the couch that became a bed was a little hard. The bathroom was a nice size for a cruise ship with plenty of storage

Ship tip

The Aft elevators were far less crowded then the forward elevators. Make reservations before you get on the boat

Ports of call

Seattle, Washington

We stayed for two days after the cruise. Pikes place was a great place to walk around. The flowers were beautiful and cheap. We purchased a nice bouquet to keep in our room. Seeing the flying fish was a lot of fun. Unfortunately the City does have a very bad homeless problem

Ketchikan, Alaska

We did the Zodiac Coastal excursion. Our guide had heard there was a whale near the ships so we started there instead of going further in. We got to see the whale many times and very close up. There were lots of eagles and the guide would throw fish so we saw up close the eagles swooping in to get the fish. My husband had a blast driving the boat. Our guide was excellent Afterwards we walked around down including Creek St which was great

Juneau, Alaska

We went on a Mendenhall Glacier and whale watching tour. Mendenhall glacier was great and we hiked down to nugget falls. Definitely worth the hike down. We saw a few whales while on the boat including a mom and her calf. I got some great pictures. Everyone from the tour company were great

CRUISE ENDICOTT ARM & DAWES GLACIER Did not visit port

Due to a time restriction we were not allowed to go here. They took us to Davidson Glacier instead. I will say that I was very disappointed with this view. I ice in the water and the glacier was way up on the mountain

Skagway, Alaska

This was our favorite port. The town and the surrounding areas were beautiful. We did the dog mushing excursion. This was our favorite by far but we are dog people. It was amazing how the dogs could pull the sled with so much weight. The guides were all very knowledgeable and friendly. Getting to play with the puppies was the icing on the cake. Special shout out to our Garrett. He was a local and he was great

Victoria, British Columbia Did not visit port

As we were leaving the boat it started to rain. We were all nerdy tired so just went back on the ship. I heard it was a very nice town to visit

Since we staying In town we were the last group to be called off the ship. Although there was a line I thought it moved quickly. Our ride to the hotel was very easy to find
