Mexican Rivera Adventure by zeniejr

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Jewel / Destination: Mexico

I thoroughly enjoyed the cruise, the amenities, food and entertainment on board were great. On shore the temperatures at the various stops was horrid, hot and humid. I will do it again.

Cruise by gramsmiley

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Norwegian Jewel / Destination: Mexico

I thought cabins were very small. Food was ok. Most of time food in buffet was cold and in dinning room too. Service was poor. Seemed to take way too long to get meals and drinks.best meal was in Japanese  restaurant. Don't  know  if  I  would go on NCL again.

Thanks for the great ride. by carl444

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Jewel / Destination: Mexico

The massages were the best and no waiting. Most fun activities were always jammed. Activities for seniors were held in small dance areas limiting the attendance.

I prefer the smaller ships.  Thank you

SERVICE SUBLIME by tropics38

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Jewel / Destination: Mexico

I can't say enough good things about the service staff on board the Norwegian Jewel. In the dining room to to the room steward and all the activities the professional and courteous men and women were exceptional! After returning back home I'm a little confused about an additional $269.00 charge to my account, I hope it's just a mistake in the accounting process and will be deleted . I paid all my room and services and have the receipt to verify.

PEACEFUL AND PLEASURABLE by deborahkissiejo

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Norwegian Jewel / Destination: Mexico

My favorite part of the cruise was having all my day to day needs taken care of for me.  The entertainment, food, beverages and people were all a pleasant part of the cruise.  The daily view of the sea kept all things in perspective.  The cleanliness of the ship along with the professionalism of the entire crew was priceless.  I was not ready to part with this trip.  I highly recommend this cruise for singles, couples, families or even weddings. Our room was impeccable at all times.

Mexico Cruise by dmrogers5

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Norwegian Jewel / Destination: Mexico

My favorite part of the cruise was the beauty of the ship and ports, excellent customer service, variety of excellent food and dining options, and the relaxation, I found the crew members to be very friendly and courteous. The embarkation process went amazingly smooth and the Garden Cafe exceeded our expectations! My least favorite was the Raffle to Dine with an Officer because I felt silly dressing up only to be escorted into a main dining room after an excursion day where passengers were casual, tired, and hungry. It seemed either their needed to be one formal dining night w/officers for all passengers or reservations at Cagneys or one of the other specialty restaurants. I also felt the cards for Deal or No Deal should be half the price charged. But overall I had a most wonderful experience and look forward to my next cruise with Norwegian hopefully next summer!

p.s. - Loved the Washy Washy folks!

Unhappy or disinterested crew by nhojnoom

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Norwegian Jewel / Destination: Coastal - West Coast

The cabin steward and the Splash Academy staff did a wonderful job but 2 days at sea was too much with an uncaring and often intrusive service staff.  Many of the crew were obvoisly sick with colds which didn't help when given dirty silverware. Disemlbarkation was a disater.

West coast cruise by choochoo2020

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Jewel / Destination: Coastal - West Coast

Favorite part was visiting Victoria, BC, and Astoria, Oregon.  Didn't realize this was a back-to-back cruise - had too many sea days for me.  Next time I'll research cruise itself more.

food not nearly as good as past NCL, but still recommend the cruise overall by grewuponships

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Jewel / Destination: Coastal - West Coast

We loved the free unlimited beverage package!  We only had to give them our card, nothing to sign when they returned the card with our order.  When I sailed in 2015, they brought a check to sign and passengers were mistakenly adding tips when those are all prepaid with the package.  A great solution in practice now!  Out of curiosity, I would have liked to see the drinks listed on our final cruise bill (with no charge).  Happy

Some of the food was disappointing.  But the crab cakes in Azura, Indian food (Garden Cafe), chocolate croissants (everywhere), bacon, mai tais, red Sangria, tiramisu (Tsar's Palace) and Fish & Chips (O'Sheehan's) were fantastic!  Grandson ordered pizza for every lunch and dinner, so I guess it was great, too.

My husband always rates the hot tubs NOT hot.  Grandkids (9 & 13) really loved the waterslide, even when it was really too cold to be out there.  Several fathers with toddlers were having a lot of fun on it, too.

The drinks were free flowing at the 2 receptions we went to, but the food (invitation was for appetizers) was very hard to get!  Definitely need a full lunch afterwards.

Son's cabin for 4 (5553) had a rollaway rather than 2nd bunk, which was ridiculous (wall to wall beds); we were told NO cabins had 2 bunks.

Wonderful 50th Anniversary Cruise by sawjaw4

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Jewel / Destination: Alaska

We loved NCL and the Jewel. This cruise was everything w hoped for! Having expected rain we actually got nice weather in all but 1 port and even with  a day of rough seas the crew of the Jewel kept the entertainment going making all of us comfortable. Having the unlimited beverage pkg. was great, we don't drink a lot but enjoyed feeling if we wanted a beverage we could enjoy one.

We had such a great time celebrating our 50th anniversary and enjoyed this gift from our kids for the event. The entertainment was good nighty and we had a great time on excursions, especially enjoying the Bering Sea Deadliest Catch. It was a great excursion informative, and fun. Well worth the cost! We would recommend it and give it 5 starsLove

Jewel was a fun ship and we slept so good. My only regret was not seeing which pillows we had as for the first time in years I had no back/neck ache. Even my Orthopaedic Dr. Recommends I try to find what they were!

There are a lot of things we would do and see now that we have been on our first cruise and we cannot wait to beable to afford to go again and would love to go on NCL again.

Now just hope to find a good deal on NCL without waiting to long, we are now hooked cruisers!

Alaska...as we've never seen it by ppmammano

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Jewel / Destination: Alaska

I'd been to Alaska many years ago (1990's) while a member of the Air Force Reserve.  I mostly just saw Anchorage on that trip.  My wife had never been there before.  We'd planned to take a cruise for years...this was that cruise!     We both enjoyed it.  I had booked excursions at every port except the final stop in Vancouver.  Some excursions were booked online but two were booked on the ship.  We enjoyed all of them!  The weather didn't always co-operate; but we expected that.  Hoonah (Icy Point) was the worst and we now have colds from riding an open tram in a cold rain.  They did supply us with an umbrella but this was only useful when the tram stopped.  It was still interesting...though we were disappointed not to see any bears.  Luck of the draw, as some might say.  This was followed by an eye-popping day spent sailing through Glacier Bay National Park with weather as nice as it could get for viewing the main glaciers.  You win some, you lose some.  Other excursions were all interesting and sometimes educational regarding Alaska history.  The ship was good at doing what a cruise ship does: shows, attentive crew members, polite officers, and timely processing on and off at the various ports.  The food was not always great (especially the buffet) but we enjoyed the specialty restaurants.  As my birthday fell on this cruise, I was given a cake; card; and some candies...mostly in our room.  My wife and I agree that we'd sail on this cruise line again.  I do have to offer one caution to others who might take such a cruise.  My wife had a flare-up of her arthritis which left her unable to move about without extreme pain...so we went down to the on-board medical clinic.  They gave her a cortisone shot and pills for the inflamation and pain.  Good news: the treatment worked.  Bad news: the cost was about $1000 with no insurance processing.  They said we might submit the bills to our insurance once we returned...which I'll do.  Not any choice...at the time.  All in all, we still enjoyed the cruise and I think most people would say the same.

The good and the bad by thecatservant

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Jewel / Destination: Alaska

In many ways this was an amazing cruise!  The ports of call were great and the crew was wonderful!  Everyone always had a smile and were fun to interact with.  Our steward was top notch and we thoroughly enjoyed the bartenders, the wait staff in the restaurants, and all other personnel.  Norwegian was extremely organized when it came to embarkation and disembarkation.  Both went very smoothly and quicker than we have experienced on other lines.

Those are the good things.  Now for areas that I did not care for.  I did not like the layout of the ship.  There was no beautiful atrium area.  The dining rooms simply felt like I was eating in a coffee shop.  The food was so-so.  Our bed was okay but not real comfortable.  I suppose these are personal tastes, but for me a big part of the enjoyment of the cruise is the quality of the food and the ambience of the entire ship.  I will not sail on Norwegian again because of these things.

Shore excursions are rich in nature, educational, and wholesomely entertaining.

Foods are second to none.  Entertainments are exceptional. The vessel is properly maintained and the staff are all professional.  We have a good time in this cruise.

11 day 10 night Alaska Cruise by wmalcolm

A fabulous trip!  Enjoyed most of the excursions but the day cruising through Glacier Bay NP was worth the cost of the entire trip.  What a magical place!

From my bucket list: Alaska Cruise of a Lifetime♡ by TutuWatson

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Jewel / Destination: Alaska

Simple pleasures included having someone prepare all my meals and snacks in such unlimited/delicious variety, refresh/replenish my personal space twice a day and have a therapeutic spa experience available all day long.Love

Area of improvement I would like to see is for NCL to have all mandatory costs and fees included in the fare so there are no nasty surprises at check-out time. This can leave a bad, lingering taste in the heart because one didn't read all the small print.Sad

I would recommend for everyone to experience at least one cruise in their lifeline and don't wait until arthritis has set in. Shore excursions are way more fun and adventurous if your joints are free of discomfort.Wink

Unforgettable Experience NCL Sept 2016 by noelsantos81

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Jewel / Destination: Alaska

The whole cruise was AMAZING!  Both on ship and on land. We felt so taken care of and spoiled. We saw and felt everyone's effort, the crews, the entertainers,  the whole staff!!! All were friendly, always offers their assistance and made sure were feeling alright! We commend the Leaders and Heads of each department for their staffs' awesome training which reflects awesome attitude and performances towards customers. Even the smallest things count! The housekeeping and we were actually excited to open our door whenever we go back to our assigned stateroom to see what animal towel they made for us! Until we bid goodbye, they were standing bye feeding us till the end. We will for sure to take another vacation at NCL and already started recommending it to our friends spreading the wonderful experience we had!  2 thumbs up!!! Thank you for helping us create this unforgettable memories!

We had a blast!!!!! by mommawillis

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Norwegian Jewel / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

We have taken a similar cruise with Norwegian before, so we had prior experience, but we loved this cruise. The food was a lot better than on the Jewel. The staff was excellent and very helpful for any need. This was our first time cruising with our kids, and I highly recommend Norwegian for the kids because of "Splash Academy!" The youth staff is very experienced and fun. My daughters sincerely miss those staff members!

My only complaint with this cruise was the room accommodations. We had a large group that went, 8 people, who stayed in 2 inside family staterooms. It was way too full. There were 2 twin beds that we pushed together for the adults. Then there was a pull out twin and a drop down bunk-bed twin bed. These room say they are for up to 4 people, but I disagree. It was so full that we could not walk beside the beds. We only got on from the foot of the bed. Only 2 people had room to stand up in the room at a time. It was way too small for 4, even with 2 adults and 2 kids!

Overall, we had a very good time. I would recommend this cruise to anyone!

Very expensive by cgeiger

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Jewel / Destination: Alaska

Ship was nice and ports were nice.  The entertainment was excellent.  We had  rough days at sea in the Pacific so if you get sea sick that would be a problem. The reason I rated as good was because the cost for the cruise was high and when we got on ship we seemed to be price gauged everywhere we looked.  Expensive drinks, expensive gaming.  There could of been more food variety and change of menus and if a dining room is complimentary don't have things on the menu that you have to pay extra for.  There should of been more prime options such as a crab leg night or lobster night with no extra charge.  I also thought the service could of been better.  There are times we waited and even did not receive things we requested and some staff were not knowledgeable about things.  I don't know if it was because it was the end of the season and were people tired or crabby?  This was not everyone, we had several that were also very good thank god that made up for that.
