17th trip to AK

Sail Date: May 16, 2015

Reviewed: 2 years ago

Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Balcony

The scenery, ports, whales, and eagles provide so many incredible photo ops! The first whale I saw on this trip was from my balcony while still docked in Seatlle! Docked in Juneau an eagle landed on a light pole just outside my balcony! When cruising AK you can watch for humpback, orca, seals, etc. instead of just seeing water and more water! Read the Freestyle Daily that is put in your cabin each evening! It tells everything that is going on around the ship and where things are located. The paper lists all the restaurants and times open along with the activities you can choose to participate in. One of the complimentary dining rooms you can just wear jeans and shirt. This was my 17th trip to AK and each time I have seen something different.

Ship Quality

Love the inexpensive duck ride in Ketchican. Educational as well as entertaining. Train in Skagway has breathtaking scenery!
Seattle, Washington
Duck ride is a must!!
Ketchikan, Alaska
Duck ride provided many photo ops of Eagles up close!
Juneau, Alaska
The capital is within walking distance. Only landlocked capital.
Cruise Sawyer Glacier
On an iceberg a seal was sleeping and another had two eagles perched on it.
Skagway, Alaska
The history narrated on the White Pass Train is fascinating.
Victoria, British Columbia
Not as many excursion choices and some require lot of walking.

Don't fight the crowds in the cafe just go to the complimentary dining room for each of your meals. Jeans and shirt are welcome!
