Review summary

We will never, ever cruise on NCL again. They kept us on the ship longer than I could ever have imagined and it was not pleasant.

Embarkation

3 out of 5
Embarkation was ok.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

1 out of 5
Terrible food, couldn't get into restaurants and the buffet was better than the main dining rooms. The only meal that was redeeming was Ocean Blue.

Onboard Activities

1 out of 5
We couldn't do any activities on the ship because they congregated most of the people in the middle of the ship and there was nowhere else to go.

Entertainment

1 out of 5
The only one we saw was ok. They require a reservation to see the shows and it was sold out the day we got on the ship. The theater isn't build to hold up to 4000+ people.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
Staff was either very good or very bad....Our room steward was excellent as was Domi in the Tropicana. There was also bad ones i.e. Denny in the Tropicana that goofed around and it took almost 2 hours to have dinner.

Ship Quality

1 out of 5
If you're going to invite 4000 people to cruise with you, then you should have places to put them. Guest relations, shore excursions, onboard credit, internet cafe and everything else was all in the same atrium.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
It was comfortable but could have used more storage space. The balcony was half the size of a standard balcony. Our stateroom attendant did an excellent job.

Ship tip

Dont do it.

Ports of call

San Juan, Puerto Rico

3 out of 5
San Juan was great - did we really need almost 3 days to get there? Got there at 5:00 p.m. and it was dark by 7...We were right back on the ship.

Basseterre, St. Kitts

3 out of 5
The port was ok but again it was a short day. And rearranged from the original itinerary.

Castries, St. Lucia Did not visit port

The cruiseline cancelled it and substituted St. Maarten

Bridgetown, Barbados

5 out of 5
Our favorite.

St. John's, Antigua

3 out of 5
One of our favorites but it was the only port that was a full day and it was Sunday-everything was closed.

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

3 out of 5
Loved the port but again 1/2 day. We left at 1:30

Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic Did not visit port

The cruiseline cancelled this port and we spent 3 full days again going back to NY

Disembarkation

3 out of 5
Couldn't wait to get off - we carried 4 pieces of luggage ourselves.

Or go to carnival, you'd get along better there. Same demographic

Too much luggage naturally equates to not enough storage space!

Appreciate your details. Sorry you were disappointed.

Couple of ideas…research ports before booking, don’t book during any spring or fall break or holiday period unless crowds are not something you have trouble dealing with. Read Shipmate or Cruise Critic to see how others feel about a particular ship or itinerary (understanding some folks just can never be satisfied and post comments accordingly). Never got off a cruise and felt totally negative about it. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Cruising is not sure what it was previously. Not sure what you mean by keeping you on the ship longer than you could’ve imagined.
