Review summary

The Norwegian casual environment is an excellent approach to make the cruise experience cruise trip unforgettable.  The add-on beverage package and specialty restaurants are the perfect complements to create an exceptional cruise trip.  Although we had visited all the ports of call before the Norwegian experience made the trip hard to forget.  However NCL has to improve the check-in process that took more that 1.5 hours to board the ship.  Debarkation is very smooth and well organized.

Orlando Fish from Nicaragua was very helpful and was trying to take care of all our needs. Our balcony was a very good addition to the cruise experience.

Ship tip

Go for the 3 or 4 specialty dining package and ultimate beverage package

Tender is very slow and city has little to offer.

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

3 out of 5
Took a $2 per person taxi to Mahahual and went to the beach with shade and facilities. The beach is average. Prices in the Costa Maya shopping center high.

Cozumel, Mexico

5 out of 5
Took a catamaran for snorkeling and a beach island with very nice facilities and excellent local services.

Self assist carrying ALL their luggage 7:45 to 8:30 - breakfast opens 6:00 - 9:00. If the ship is to handle your tagged luggage - earliest time is 9:00.

What time does debarkation start for walk offs?

On 5/1 the Getaway check-in process started at 1:30 and took more than one hour to get on board.  Both terminal "B" and "C" had a couple of blocks waiting lines under the Miami sunshine.  NCL needs to revamp the check-in procedure.

We've never Ben in line more then ten minutes. Maybe it has to do with the time you checked in. We usually check in around one. I know people try to get first in line to get the vibe pass and its chaotic at that time.
