We really enjoyed where our cabin was located at the front of the ship. It was quiet, but all activities were convenient.

Stay away from the Spa. They are rip-offs. I was scammed, but luckily I received a credit.

Make sure you bring extra money, everything is extra money besides your food on the ship and select entertainment shows.

Get your coffee first at the buffet and sit and enjoy. Otherwise it's cold by the time you get your food! Better yet if time allows eat breakfast in the main dining room, much more relaxing. The specialty dining is not that expensive so enjoy if you want. There is lots to do but be careful not to run around too much. Make sure to catch the after show events in the spinnaker loung. They are a hoot!

Make dining reservations as early as possible. The specialty restaurants did not have availability for a large parties (8+) on short notice.

If you want a lounge chair need to get there as early as possible to get a good spot but the deck above the Bali bar is a great spot too!!!

It was my first time ever on ship. I've traveled on vacation by airplane to 5 European Countries. In comparison, traveling on Norwegian ship cruise is the best ever. I am going back next year again because it's the best way to relax when on vacation. Never any dull moments. Therefore, I highly recommend it to anyone.

Maybe that if you like to dance make sure there is adult night clubs that's the one thing I was disappointed with the music was pretty much for teens didn't dance much.

For a first timer, don't sail Gem. I will be contacting my NCL Consultant and informing him as well. For this should not be a first-time experience. I do know that things do happen, but on this GEM, too much was happening and my experience was not what I expected. Next time, I will do my research and check which line or ship suits me best. On the GEM, there is too much going on with people over drinking and not knowing how to act. The beach chairs are overwhelming and all over the place. Dinnerware with food, was left at the rails of the stairs, in the corner of the elevator, under the beach chairs. Some people were way, out of control with the drinking and their approach was as if we were their neighbors back home. There were too many kids running around as if they were back in the hood with no parents to keep them in check.
