Review summary

The cruise we thought was going well but what we didn't know was that covid was being spread around. the ship never informed us or started tougher protocol procedures. so as we disembarked may of us were surprised to test positive and be stuck in Italy, in hotel at our expense waiting to test positive. Then many who did a follow on to the next cruise had to be quarantined in the rooms. I will really think hard about sailing on Norwegian this is our second bad experience with them.

Sorry you were sick also. Not to be insensitive but it’s not the cruise ship’s fault. If you are afraid of catching Covid you should stay home. You could have also caught it around town or store. I’m sure the protocols of a cruise ship are over and above any Walmart store.

You were on a ship with a couple thousand people. COVID is on the rise again. People should be masking when in close proximity to others.

It sucks that you got Covid, but you get Covid from people, cruise lines cannot Guarantee you won’t get sick

So, you were on the repositioning cruise. Which was a long cruise. Most of that cruise was not in Italian waters. So, the daily Italian testing doesn't make sense. Can you give more details?

Thanks for sharing your cruise with us.

Was there a flight somewhere before or after this cruise? This is a risk you take, covid is going to be here for awhile. Travel insurance would have helped. The cruise lines are doing the best they can to provide a safe environment for you and the people on board.

We are headed out on the may 31st out of rome on the escape, we have to test basically the day before getting on no exceptions and all my group need to be vaccinated and boostered i find it hard to believe there could be any bigger outbreak in a ship than there could be in my kids schools or games or grocery stores or flights. Im more interested in Italy's protocols on a random positive test upon leaving ship into rome, if anyone has any insight.

@KimInTime you took the words out of my mouth! Covid is everywhere, restrictions are being eased in all countries, it’s inevitable that more of it will make its way onto ships. They can’t stop it, although they try to reduce it by testing. I would like a bit more info on the numbers we’re talking about here too, before we start a panic! Another review of the same cruise mentioned nothing of this.

I agree. A lot of ships have been getting Covid. It’s not their fault. It’s the passengers that are spreading it.

Were you vaccinated? How long did you have to quarantine in italy after you got off ship?

My feeling is that there’s Covid on ships of course because there’s Covid not on the ships as well. It’s literally everywhere. It sucks that you got it, and are stuck in a place where there’s still testing and at your own expense. My question though, is how is NCL at fault? It’s not a sarcastic question. You say you caught it definitely on the ship, and that it was because NCL’s failure to follow their own protocols. Help us out, what protocols were they ignoring? It’s important to know, to hold them accountable if we need to.
