Excellent value!! by PatK2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Norwegian Dawn / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

This was my first cruise and I was very impressed with the Norwegian Dawn ship. Although a bit small for 4 people (2 adults, 1 teenager and 1 preschooler), the cabin was very clean and the decor was pleasing. fortunately, because of all the activities the ship had to offer, not a lot of time was spent in the cabin. I was very impressed with the kid's crew program. My teenage son enjoyed himself immensely!!! He participated in the majority of the teen club activities and made several friends to hang out with the entire cruise. My preschooler was a little hesitant at first, but once he went he had a really good time. It was great for me and my husband too - we were able to get in some alone time. The food was non stop. The buffet was pretty good. The restaurants were good, not great. You'll never go hungry on this cruise, that's for sure! The staff were very friendly and accomodating. I thought the entertainment would be somewhat corny (due to the fact it was a cruise) but I was pleasantly surprised and enjoyed the entertainment very much. The only thing I was disappointed in was the length of the port stays. I don't think you were given enough time to really enjoy each port, especially Nassau, Bahamas. The private island, Stirrup Cay, was fun even though it ended up pouring rain. I would definitely recommend this cruise and am looking forward to taking another cruise in the future.

An excellent cruise!! by KevinJ2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Dawn / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

I recently sailed the Dawn for my Honeymoon. My wife and I had a great time. The food and dining is excellent. Definitely try the LeBistro once before you leave. All of the bars, lounges, and clubs are excellent. Live music everywhere and great entertainment shows and performances are fabulous and very high quality. Above all, the staff and service are spectacular, and go above and beyond to make your trip enjoyable. Do try the honeymoon/aniversary package, which includes cake-champagne party, Dinner for two at LeBistro's, complimentary wine and champagne, etc. Also, the chocolate lover's Buffet is amazing with chocolate and ice sculptures galore. Definitely had a great time! Wiki wiki wa!

A Wonderful and Relaxing Cruise by NancyJ

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Dawn / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

The ship was fantastic. It had great cabins that were well maintained. The bars were beautiful and there were many places to relax and watch the incredible views from. There was an adult only spa with a lap pool and jacuzzis that was also great. The staff was absolutely incredible as they were friendly and accommodating. The only negative would be that the food, particularly the lunches could have been much better.

Good, but not great by JohnD6533530383

The ship was beautiful. Very large, you never felt crowded. I did not like smoking allowed in the casino. The itinerary for this cruise was changed after we booked it. Was supposed to go to Florida and Bahamas. Now it's Bermuda and the Bahamas. You didn't have a full day in any port. Just not enough time to do anything off the ship. I would rather stay in one port for two days than three ports for a few hours each. Soon as you got off the boat you were worried about how much time you had left to be back.

Norwegian Dawn a Pleasant Surprise by ChrisC32

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Dawn / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

The ship is quite large, however, navigating the ship is difficult as it is very cut up-- in that you cannot walk through many areas to get to others. For instance the Aqua restaurant is accessed by level six-- if you're "fore" you have to walk outside and then in or up and over to access this restaurant. Many locations are difficult to get to and signage is not always clearly written for the average person to understand. The ship's common areas are VERY WELL maintained. In fact they exceed that of Celebrity's Millenium and Holland America's Westerdam and Oosterdam ships which were refurbished in the last 2 years. The ship's staterooms are very functional I purchased two different categories on this voyage and found that the veranda rooms had a larger bathroom than on other ships I've sailed, nice features-- The living areas are somewhat smaller as are the verandas than on comparable class ships. The inside stateroom on the lower floor is like most inside rooms-- they are noisey--as they are surrounded by occupants on the back and two side walls. They also are very dark and their is not adequate lighting in these staterooms to read comfortably. I have found this to be the case on all lines not just NCL. The bathroom is quite large for an inside stateroom. Since many people place the kids in these rooms and stay across the hall there's varying degrees of evidence of children in these rooms-- i. e. crayon and pen marks, nail-polish or cosmetics stains on carpet etc. Since the rooms are dark-- they're not quite as noticeable. The ship has an 80's Glitz to it however it is not offensively glitzy-- just a lot of brass and metal and bright tropical colors.

Overall, I thought the ship was beautiful. The theatre was as nice as any Broadway theatre. The Spinakker Lounge was nicely appointed. The pool area was large and I especially appreciated the fact that there were plently of lounges. Beautifully decorated and the Atrium on the 7th floor was magnificent.

Ship: Norwegian Dawn / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

We recently sailed on the Norwegian Dawn. My eight and ten year-olds had a great time. They loved the kids club and my ten year old begged to be put in it each day. The cruise director was great as was the entire crew. Everyone was friendly and helpful. The restaurants were great. We never made reservatons ane only once could we not get into a restaurant.

A good first cruise by PC13341513

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Dawn / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Whenever the staff referred to the ship, it was always called "the beautiful" Norwegian Dawn, and corny as it may sound we had to agree. Its size is truly impressive, particularly for a first-time cruiser like me, and the amenities it offered never made me miss being on land much at all. In fact, most of the time the sailing was so smooth you'd never even know you were on a ship unless you looked out the window.

Great Ship by RuthF1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Norwegian Dawn / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

This was my first cruise. I enjoyed the ship and the friendliness of the crew. It was a clean and ergonomically designed cruise ship. My kids had a great time exploring all the different corners of the ship and went to the shows at Stardust everynight. My eleven year old said that most of the shows were 'brilliant'. And they are used to Broadway shows in New York. She is already asking to come on my next cruise.

I had the Tiem of my Life by Marie3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Norwegian Dawn / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

The Norweigan Dawn is a beautiful ship, with all the major conveniences, and comforts. The food was great, most of the time, and the service was always excellent. Our room was very comfortable, and I was particularly impressed with the comfort and size of the bathroom/dressing room area. I was also very delighted t o find an in-room fridge, and beds that were very comfortable.

This mega-ship was huge!!! by Tamyra

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Dawn / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

It was like a 24 hour floating buffet! Food was everywhere and it was really pretty good! The service in the restaurants was like dining in a five star restaurant. There was always something to do, even if it was relaxing in your room and watching a good movie. The walls are a little thin and you can hear your neighbor at times. I had a noisy neighbor and complained at the desk. They took care of it immediantly and checked the next day to see if things were better.

Very relaxing by DanaB3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Dawn / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

This was my second cruise and my boyfriend's fourth. We had high expectations after sailing on one of the new Royal Carribean ships last year but we were not disappointed. The Norweigan Dawn is a beautiful ship. We especially enjoyed the Freestyle Dining program where you can eat in either of the three main dining rooms or choose from specialty restaurants that require a reservation. Two of the specialty restaurants do not have an additional fee. The one that we tried, Salsa's, was a Mexican/Meditteranean mix. The food and service were both great and we almost went back for a second night. The other free option was Italian called La Trattoria. The only other specialty restaurant we tried was the French restaurant, Le Bistro. Most notable is its collection of four Impressionist paintings by Monet, Van Gogh, Matisse and Renoir. The $15 per person fee was well worth it to dine amongst these masterpieces. The food and service was also great and I especially loved the chocolate fondue for dessert! All of our other dining experiences were wonderful. We enjoyed being able to eat at whatever time we chose. Also, 2 of the 3 main dining rooms (Impressions and Aqua) had a small restaurant feel so we did not feel like we were dining on a massive cruise ship, but rather at a cozy restaurant. The food at all of our meals was tasty and well presented. The only negative comment I had was that the selection in the main dining rooms was sometimes not varied enough, probably because you have so many other options of where to eat. Also, because you can make reservations early on in the cruise I suggest going to the main reception desk and ask for a copy of the week's menus for the main dining rooms. This way you can pick a night to eat at the specialty restaurants when you know theres nothing you'll want to miss.

A cruise I already want to go back to by Ls11

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Dawn / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

I enjoyed my cruise very much. Nice new cruise ship, beautiful decor, helpfull and cheerful staf. Our cabin cleaning crew met all our requests with smile and it was done right away. When my cruise ended and it was time to desembark, I really wanted to stay for another week. On the negative side I would mention there is only one outside pool for such big cruise ship for adults. Dawn has an inside pool within spa - but you have to pay to use it.
