Norwegian Dawn overview

By Cruiseline.com - Updated Mar. 9, 2020

Norwegian cruises are known for their innovative, world-class entertainment, and Norwegian Dawn lives up to that reputation with a stacked lineup of fantastic shows and specialty acts. From a mock singing competition where passengers get to vote on the winner to the visually dazzling ELEMENTS!, which combines magic, dance, and aerial performances, Dawn’s onboard entertainment is first-rate.

Norwegian Dawn also includes plenty of activities to satisfy the active traveler, with its lap pool, full-service gym and outdoor sports courts. After a workout, cruisers can enjoy a muscle-relaxing soak in one of the ship’s six conveniently located hot tubs or enjoy a cigar and cognac at the Havana Club Cigar Bar. For passengers feeling lucky, the ship’s onboard casino lets passengers try their hand at roulette, blackjack, and a variety of exciting slot machines.

In 2016, Dawn underwent a multimillion-dollar refurbishment through the Norwegian Edge program. The renovation included the addition of Moderno Churrascaria, a Brazilian steakhouse where the meat is carved tableside, as well as enhancements to the ship's staterooms, public spaces, and a number of back-of-house areas to improve the overall passenger experience.

Norwegian Dawn sails from Barcelona, Miami, and New York, to destinations including New England, Canada, Bermuda, the Bahamas, the Caribbean, and Europe. Specialty voyages also include sailings to the Greek Isles and the Panama Canal, along with occasional 14-night transatlantic repositioning cruises.

Adventures from the Sea by Sirena86

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Dawn

I really enjoyed visiting this part of Europe and appreciated not having to worry about what I was going to eat or where I was going to stay. It's a great way to get a taste of different countries and having the comfort of yummy food on the ship and also wonderful shows after your trip into town. I love traveling with NCL and look forward to going on future cruises with them!

We picked this cruise because it had so many different countries. We did wear ourselves out trying to make the most of it. LOL

Norwegian has fallen! by ajimsojka

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Dawn

We did this cruise to visit the few countries we hadn't gone to in Europe. I think hiking with tacks in my shoes would have been more fulfilling. This was hands down the worst vacation I've ever had. I've gotten Giardia in Cambodia, had flights home canceled last minute in Egypt, and vacationed in an area that was technically in a civil war. Norwegian somehow made this cruise a more miserable experience. I am shouting from the highest window to all who will listen: AVOID NORWEGIAN UNTIL THEY GET THEIR HOUSE IN ORDER.

I like the smaller ships for you don't get overwhelmed as with the bigger vessels. It's a more personal and relaxing atmosphere.

Staterooms were too small and cramped, but overall it was comfortable. Free room service for breakfast was a great option.
