Nice ship-loved parking in Bermuda for 3 days by marianne21

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

Best thing was being able to get on/off and being able to ride water taxi or bus wherever you need to go.  Beaches were beautiful. I wouldn't go this late in the year next time. Go prior to October if possible.  Island very clean and natives very well dressed and friendly. Very expensive island. Not a lot of shopping but very nice area to tour. We did the 5 hour tour and enjoyed it very much. You can see all the main beaches on the first day and then go back for a longer stay if desired by bus etc.  Ship was crowded and the customer information/computer area and all main games were in the same area-poor design on their part-too loud in this area.  Pools couldn't be used due to high winds and chilly weather. Less pool space then on other big ships. We had upgraded dining and enjoyed the restaurants. Them main dining was good also.

Very Disappointed by joefog99

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

This was our 5th cruise with NCL, and the first on the Breakaway.  We have been on their smaller ships, on this same route, to Alaska and in the Med.  This was a very disappointing cruise.  The staff of this ship just didn't care about anything.  The entertainment group did a fine job.  The parties, bars, shows (dueling pianos were great), art, shops - they were all fine.

The problem was in the food service.  Hot foods served cold, Cold foods served hot - even in the specialty dining areas.  Wait staff reaching across the table rather than going around.  Waiting 30 minutes to get an order placed.  Poor food quality (what is "striploin"?).

Also, the design of the Breakaway is that most of the common areas such as specialty restaurants, casino, shops, art gallery are all "hallways".  You are sitting down to eat and people are passing by your table less than 1 foot away.  In the casino people constantly bumped pass you as they went fore/aft on the ship.

And, there was a lack of service.  On the ropes course - no attendants on hand to help other than getting into harness - Can't imagine "walking the plank" and falling off - no one there to help you get back on.

I'd say the problem is mis-management, people just didn't care.  Saw a lettuce leaf drop on the floor in the Manhattan Club - it stayed on the floor the whole meal - right in a walking area.  Saw a person drop a cookie on the floor.  The manager kicked it to the side rather than picking it up.  That is an attitude problem that I never saw on any cruise ship.

Our 2nd Cruise in 4 Months to Bermuda on NCL by kruisebig30

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

We had the best Anniversary/Birthday cruise in June/July 2015 to Bermuda on The Dawn and we had to return for another amazing cruise to Bermuda for my Birthday. The Breakaway is a MUST for anyone who enjoys cruising, meeting awesome crew who treats everyone like a royal, delicious food in so many places to have a meal and great entertainment. From the time we boarded to the time we had to leave everything was perfect and can't wait to cruise again. Of course, we put a deposit down on two more cruises and hope to have the same outstanding crew again. The most important lesson in life is where ever you go, who ever you deal with, remember treat with respect and you receive it back. We had a blast making the crew smile, taking selfies with them and treating them with the respect they so deserve. NCL is great and our travel agent, Linda with BJ's Travel is the BEST.

Good, not great by pamaio

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

Cruised on the Breakaway Oct 11-18, 2015.  My second Norwegian cruise, in addition to 3 Princess, 2 RC, and 2 Celebrity cruises.  I thought the ship was very nice and liked The Waterfront restaurants and bars.  Entertainment was good, especially Burn the Floor, Howl at the Moon dueling pianos (lots of fun with talented pianists/drummer), and Broadway singer Donna Vivino.  However, there were huge blocks of time (mostly on sea days) when there was very little to do of interest to me.  Overall the staff was pleasant, but nowhere near the level of service I've experienced on other cruises.  I didn't even see our room steward until day 4 of the cruise. There was no room service menu in our room and after calling for one, I was surprised that they didn't leave any breakfast order forms so had to call back for those.  Most disappointing to me was the food in the complimentary dining rooms (Manhattan, Taste, and Savor).  We had lunch there 4 times and dinner 5 of 7 nights.  Lunch menus were uninspired and were repeated every other day.  Dinner menus were more extensive but only one dinner was what I thought of as "very good".  Not very much seafood, with the exception of salmon, salmon, salmon.  No scallops or lobster at all.  Another thing I found annoying about the dining rooms was that people were allowed to wear absolutely anything they wanted.  Ripped short cut off jeans, offensive t-shirts, baseball and wool caps, etc.  NCL's dress code says these things aren't permitted, but no one enforced them at all.  We enjoyed Shanghai Noodle Bar and O'Sheehan's, but didn't like Wasabi at all and found the food terrible, service horribly slow (in a nearly empty restaurant), and the waitstaff were surly.  The Garden Cafe buffet was good and had a little bit of everything you'd expect on a buffet.  We had a drink package but were disappointed in the small variety of wines offered in the bars.  Overall, it was nice to have the convenience of a NYC cruise departure and aspects of the cruise were very nice, but I don't think I'd recommend it to a friend.

nORWEGIAN bREAKAWAY by JulieLipper

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

Beautiful décor, good food particularly in the "specialty restaurants", great shows, extremely friendly and helpful personnel. Be prepared to walk, walk, walk due to the size of the ship and the lack of mid-ship elevators. Also, the lack of meaningful and informative (about the world, USA, sports, weather) TV programming.

Otherwise, it was a wonderful cruise and a great experience.

This was our third time on the Breakaway. The service was excellent and the staff was friendly. I would recommend this cruise to anyone. There is so much to do you can't do it all.

Bermuda Cruise by mjrrac1

Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

The Breakaway was a very nice ship. The staff were accomdatimg and the food very good. The shows were entertaining and enjoyable too see. It was a good choice for a child with what they had to offer as far as the rope course, etc.

The ship was personally too large for me and too many people but I realize you have a choice when you choose a cruise.

The agent who put this together was very knowledgeable and easy to work with.

Love Cruising by cboldish

We love to cruise out of NYC, makes it very easy and convenient to travel since we live in upstate New York.   We hoped the in-room TV selections would have been better, entertainment onboard was not that great (we've had better on other Norwegian ships) and the desserts were okay, also better on other ships.

A great break on the Breakaway by ravmich

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

Norwegian provides a nice middle of the road cruise experience; not too fancy or to cheap.  The Breakaway is a wonderful ship with lots to do.   Food in regular dining rooms was good and consistent.  We found the service pleasant and helpful if not always efficient.  Leaving from NYC is wonderful.  We avoided the hassles of flying and boarding was easy and efficient.  The time in Bermuda was fun; you could do as much or as little as you wanted and onboard activities continued even while we were docked.  I would definitely consider NCL and Breakaway again.

I enjoyed traveling on the Breakaway  It is truly a beautiful ship but just a little to big for my liking.  I can honestly say that my next cruise will be on the Gem  The one thing that I will miss is the Studio cabins perfect for people who prefer not sharing a cabin

One thing we didn't like was that the coffee cups too small. Coffee bitter. We missed our flavoured creamers. Extra charges for room servive. The staff went above and beyond to make our cruise enjoyable.  Staff SUPER polite. Never met anyone who wasn't.

Great Time by Richpotown

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

Accomodations were fine.  Ultimate Dining Package for the named resturaunts was well worth it.  The filet mignon at Cagney's Steak House was in the top five that I've ever tasted.  The cafeteria had a broad selection and quality was also very good.  The down side is I gained 12 lbs over the eight day cruise.  People on the island catered to the tourists.  Very friendly and hospitable.  If you are a rum lover, I highly recommend the Sunset Cruise sponsored by Goesling's Rum.  It was fun, informative, and the free samples just kept coming.  For entertainment on board, I especially liked Rock of Ages; it was a true Broadway quality show.

Overall, five stars.

Nice getaway. by dannmari

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

Seems like a great ship for families and childen.  We were a couple who didn't participate in activities.  We came for a rest and were able to find quiet places.  I am always disappointed in deck chairs.  They are very low and difficult for people with  arthritis.  The lounge chairs were too deep but we managed.  Would love it if all ships would consider senior friendly seating.  We are coming back in the spring with the family.

The food throughout was spectacular.  However we were disappointed in Cagney's service.  The wait for service was very long and then the food came too fast once they started.  Our cocktail came after the appetizer and we barely finished one course when the other was served.  Dessert was finished before the coffee came and we were not offered a second cup,  The Bistro and  Tepanyaki were very nice although the noise from Tepanyaki intruded on the ambiance of the Bistro.

Bermuda by lorimotthoffman

Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

Great trip! Breakaway is an amazing ship.HUGE ship with lots to do. Entourage was great for my 15 year old son. He made a lot of friends, participated in contests and group activities. Enjoyed the noodle bar and o'sheehans for the complimentary dinner choices. My only complaint it's that there has to be a way for large groups to stay in touch while out of there rooms. We were a group of ten and it was difficult.

Our Bermuda Cruise by Dollycon

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

My husband and I enjoyed our suite in the Haven, our second time in the Haven.

Virginia our Concierge was THE BEST she bent over backwards to please always

with a smile. The ladies in the Haven restaurant were wonderful so pleasant and friendly, they kept us coming back. Names are Kharen, Maureen,Bernadette,

Emmanuelle was very good also. I hope they all get recognized.

One criticism I have to make. The Haven Restaurant their menu is boring it is the same EVERY day.We went to other restaurants the food was good but OH!!

so noisy, you could not have a conversation. Another reason we kept going to the Haven.

Our Butler was very good also. Arnold the housekeeper did a very good job.

We were in Suite #133302

Jim and Dorothy Bennett

Had A Great Time by gattusovince

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

We had a great time on the Breakaway, as with any cruise ship you can always find things to complain about but nothing that made this trip unpleasant, my biggest problem was there is no real Sport bar on the ship so if you don't like soccer you have a problem ( I had a problem), the Blues Club was awesome as was the Water Front, the food was very good and we also ate at Cagney's Steak House and that was excellent, Over all it was a great trip and our cruise consultant Kathy Jezek was extremely helpful in the entire process

Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

great food great service, we had a medical emergency and the ship had to go 150 off course and we still made Bermuda in record time.

love the ship

the only issue is with NCL

we used a debit card and all charges were applied but then NCL held an additional 900.00 for 4 business days. not sure why but this did not sit well with us
