i wish there was more shaded areas on decks because the sun is so very hot. We enjoyed the meals and the drinks and we will be sailing with you in the future.

Amazing views! by KittyCats

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

The views leaving from NYC and the port in Bermuda were picturesque. The pool was overly crowded and you have to get up at 6:30am to get a lounge chair. Overall the service was good but you have a few that you can tell didn't want to be there. The food was mediocre and entertainment was limited. The cruise was inexpensive so it was par with my expectations.

Book with Neal from cruise only! She is awesome and will check in on you before the cruise to make sure everything is in order. Normally, I book my trips online but will call her for my future cruising adventures!

Cruise to bermuda by paramraj

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

This cruise provided varieties of food and several individual restaurants so my family enjoyed it very much. My son enjoyed so much with teen club but unfortunately there are not much activity for adults. Hope they had more plays for adults to watch. But definetly my family and I had a great time. I will definetly recommend my friends and relatives.

Restaurant Reservations by jojobguthrie

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

We were 13 people celebrating our 50th. We tried to make 3 nights together & were told we could not be at the same table. Later we found out that there was a special # to call if you are more than 12. No one told us that and then the restaurants were booked. My daughter finally got a res at Ocean for fri. night, ordered a cake and they said they had a table for us. She went to confirm that afternoon and was told that they could not do it. After begging they agreed to set us up right. Every night there was some sort of problem. your people don't know what they are doing. This was a huge problem & a real consideration in ever booking again. J B Guthrie

4000 Passengers, One Pool by rockit2624

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

Ok, we are not new to cruises, but this was our first (and last) experience on such a large ship.  Surprises were in store, and many of these not the good kind.

4000 passengers, one pool.  You couldn't fit one person at poolside with a pry bar if you tried.  The staff was great.  The ship is beautiful.  But, once you pay for your cruise, you're not done paying even if you buy extra "packages".

General dining - "up" charges if you wanted better items like lobster or steak.  Specialty dining - $25 "cover charge" and then the menu is a la carte.

Shows - Cirque de Sole is advertised in advance of the cruise, but, you guessed it, if you actually want to see the show, yes there is another "up" charge for that.  Even if you choose to pay it, the shows are sold out, no seats are available.

The list of "up" charges go on and on.  I don't know about you, but after paying all that money to go on the cruise, I hate the idea of paying nickel and dime "service charges" "cover charges" and "additional fees".  I would rather lose that money all by myself at the casino.

Thanks but no thanks.

Final comment:  my wife was violently ill all night after eating a fish dinner that took 45 minutes to arrive after the salad.  We think it was food poisoning.  Just what we look forward to in a vacation!

Go at your own risk.

Norwegian Breakaway - A Dream by margaretgrillo

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

My favorite part of the cruise was the outdoor deck.  Party at the pool everyday.  The drinks at the bar were fantastic.  Best mojito's we ever had!  The restaurants and the service were supberb!  I cannot recommend this cruise enough to everyone.  The only improvement I would recommend is to make this voyage longer!  Moderno restaurant and LaCucina were great restaurants.  DanDan our Cruise Director is what a cruise director should be.  Shows - so entertaining.  Rock of Ages - awesome!   Norwegian Breakaway and were truly professional, courteous and knowledgeable.  Fantastic service from both the cruise line and the travel agent.  We travelled with our two teenage boys and another family and their two teenage boys and they had just as a good of time as we did. Thank you and Norwegian Breakaway for making our vacation a memorable one for us.

Beautiful Ship and Great Entertainment and Staff by chazwesley

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

We cruised on the July 31, 2016 sailing and my wife, daughter and I had a wonderful time on the ship.  Leo and Emerson at the pool bar were awesome!  The "go at your own pace" atmosphere was great, especially with the meals.  The specialty restaurants were excellent!  Highly advise this cruise to anyone looking for a nice getaway for a week.  Excellent value for the price.

Never Cruise NCL Again by thegoodsheppard

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

The ship and the service aboard was good. However, there are too many specialty restaurants. A couple of specialty restaurants is fine, but four; that is just too many. Why have a specialty for steak, Italian food, sea food, and even Japanese; these are so common place in every day dining. I can see the Brazilian and French. Even the complimentary restaurants have some prices on the menu. This is just another way to "milk" people out of money. A number of people on the cruise made a comment about this too. Cruising has changed much, especially the NCL line since I have sailed on NCL before.

My travel friend and I both put that we were celebrating our birthdays and the travel company identified that. NCL only had a card for each of us in our cabin; however, when we are out at dinner, it is quite frustrating to hear others being celebrated for their birthday and we were not. Only after being interviewed by Debra did she try to do something and that was done poorly by sending two pieces of cake to our cabin. What a poor choice of trying to rectifying the problem. I even discussed with her about celebrating our birthdays in the restaurant to no avail. She asked if we told them in the restaurant. I have been on quite a few cruises to celebrate birthdays and never had to tell anyone. Once it is noted in the record that is all that is necessary. Oversight is not an excuse.

Also, bought transfer from pier to airport and NCL said they do not transfer people before 1:30 p.m. We were refunded our money, but why they had a sign for transfer people to airport as early as 9:00 a.m. I see this as false information given to us. As it turned out, we missed our flight because we were depending on the transfer to get us to the airport in time.

Beautiful Bermuda crowded cruise ship! by denise413

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

In August 2016 we took the Breakaway on a cruise from New York City to Bermuda.  Booking through BJ's was a breeze, we got great rates and even gift cards to the store!  The cruise ship itself was gorgeous and had a lot of amenities however it felt over crowded especially in the pool areas.  On a seven day cruise we actually never got in a pool and didn't even get to sit in a chair around the pool as it was so packed.  We could have taken this opportunity while in Bermuda however we would rather spend time exploring the destination.  There was a private pool we could have had access to by paying a fee but by the time we learned about the pool area it was already sold out.

Lounge Chair Problems by billang

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

We had two cabins on this cruise - 11778 and 11734.  This was our fourth Norwegian cruise and we never experienced problems getting a lounge chair like we did on this cruise.  It was horrible.  People were putting towels and other personal items on chairs at 6:00 am or earlier then they left the ship and didn't return until the afternoon so these chairs were taken but unoccupied all day. The staff did nothing to stop this.  It was impossible to get a chair unless you got up at 5:00 am and looked for one.  Also, I never saw the pools as overcrowded as they were on this cruise.  You couldn't get near them.  There were too many passengers on this ship.  Even our mini suite was much smaller than usual.  Looks like they cut down on the square footage. I am seriously considering going on a different cruise line next time.  I spoke to many people on the ship that was cruising for the first time.  They said NEVER AGAIN on Norwegian.  It was such a bad experience with the lounge chair situation and the overcrowded pools.  It got so bad that people were fighting over the chairs. I never saw anything like this before.  Another thing that was a problem was that most of the staff's english was so poor that you couldn't understand what they were talking about.

Vacationing with the kids by Marylandmom

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

We had a wonderful time on the ship.  We wish there had been more scheduled events while at sea and more pools onboard (there was one for "adults only" and one for younger kids).  There was one private pool which you would have to pay extra to go to.  Since there was only one pool which could be used, they were often overcrowded and the kids (teens) did not want to go in it.

customer service by charity205

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

I would never cruise NCL again. The staff was not very customer service orientated. They lied about different things that they promised us. It was my sister and brother in laws anniversary and they had the sweetheat package and they never delivered any of the things that they paid for. Also they charged a fee for just about everything. they only had to shows that were free throughout the whole 7 days! Also bathrooms kept getting stopped up in my room. I didn't like this cruise line at all. I had a good time because of my family and the people I was with but we have all decided to opt out of ever doing ncl again!
