Review summary

I planned for more than a year for this trip, to have the excursions canceled ruined the trip. Much of Alaska was closed for the season, so no real food to experience or culture.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Easy process to check in and move through customs.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

2 out of 5
Long wait times in fine dining and other common food locations for tables and food orders. The food was served room temperature or cooler. The staff has been trained to be professional but not very responsive.

Onboard Activities

1 out of 5
Nearly every activity has additional costs.

Children's Programs

3 out of 5
Had an accident where a minor child was injured but not reported

Service and Staff

1 out of 5
Simply poor service: rooms not cleaned daily, fresh towels were requested but where dirty towels refolded

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The boat was beautiful and clean.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
The cabin was a good size with plenty of sleeping room, hated I could not enjoy the balcony due to smokers violating no smoking or vaping policy.

Ship tip

Do research before booking!

We cruised on the Bliss 23 September to 7 October and had a wonderful time! Sorry to hear you didn’t have a good time. We were very lucky with our weather as we only had one really rainy day in Icy Strait Point.

We cruised to Alaska about 2 weeks before your cruise and on another line. To be honest, we didn’t care for it much either. It was cold and rainy, which we expected, but our excursions in Juneau got cancelled - not the ship’s fault of course - but it added to our disappointment. Our cruise was already boring so we were looking forward to doing something fun. IF we ever cruise to Alaska again, which I doubt, we would choose earlier in the year and a different cruise line.

I took my Alaskan cruise at the end of June. No plan really, I booked it in March on Cunard's site as a Sailing Soon deal. 3K$ for 10 days was a great deal to me!!

Cruise to Alaska from Vancouver, BC if you've got a passport. Then you'll be able to enjoy Victoria during the day. It is a beautiful city - plenty of shops, eats, a indoor mall. My cruise stopped off in early July and the weather was great.

If going to Alaska, definitely go during the middle of the season. It’s cheap at the beginning and end for good reason. Less to do and the weather isn’t as nice. Not worth the savings going in October.

Oops sorry 😞 thanks

Cruising to Alaska in October is truly off season. You may get a good deal, but you get what you pay for.

Sorry you were disappointed with your cruise.

Thanks for the review. Cruising to Alaska in October is no better than taking a Caribbean cruise during hurricane season. Lower your expectations. Expect the worst, hope for the best, and start a rough draft of your complaints.

Odd how some folks have issues with food and staff (two on this trip) while others do not. And then their poor planning is the ship’s fault.

I'm so sorry for how everything turned out to be! I'm finding myself wondering why cruises even go to Alaska in October when most things are closed. I just came back from an Alaskan cruise 2 weeks ago, and I had a wonderful time in the ports and really enjoyed my excursions. I truly hope your next cruise is everything you're hoping for!

Sorry you had a crummy experience. We go in the spring when everything is just opening, and is fresh!
