Review summary

Great cruise! First time we used Hoop On Hop Off and wish we had checked this out earlier and would have budgeted for using this in more ports. We are already planning out next cruise with HAL.

Food and Dining

We had four specialty dining; two in Pinnacle Grill, one in Canaletto and one in Tamarind. Every one was great! I wish we had gone to Tamarind a second time but we had to leave. We ate at the regular dining room for our other dinners and the Lido for our breakfast and lunch. Everything was good, waiters were friendly and well informed on the nightly menus. They were very good about asking if anyone had food allergies. Food arrived quickly and beautifully prepared.

Onboard Activities

I did not take participate in any athletic activities but I did observe the numerous hot tubs, pools and I checked out the fitness center. At least a dozen treadmills positioned to see out the windows. I did have a facial treatment in their Greenhouse Spa & Salon which was nice and relaxing.

We went to three World Stage performances and enjoyed all of them.

Always polite and inquiring if we needed anything more whether it was towels, tissue, etc. We requested they come in twice - morning to make bed and evening to turn down.

I noted that there was always cleaning going on - always. There were dispensers of sanitizer everywhere, some areas had two.

Cabin / Stateroom

Cabin was clean and I would say roomy. Due to the ship's design, we had a deck that was larger than most for that price point. We loved it and sat outside quite a lot. They supply blankets just for that purpose.

Ship tip

I would watch YouTube reviews; I watched many and got great ideas from them.

Holland switched from Ulvik to Eidfjord - which has wonderful. Beautiful city, walked right off the ship into the city.

I’m glad you enjoyed your cruise! We did a cruise on the NS in 2019 with a very similar itinerary in Norway. It was amazing! Lol. I have a picture of my husband and I in front of that waterfall and some of that amazing lake. Honestly, I think Norway blows Alaska away for natural beauty. I’m so glad your cruise went well and you enjoyed yourselves.

UPDATE TO MY REVIEW - I just want to clarify - our cruise was 11 days from Amsterdam to Copenhagen on the Nieuw Statendam. My review stands as is - just the length of the cruise was wrong. May 28 - Jun 8 2023. :)
