When we are onboard we usually spend time in the crows nest a lot. One-third of the windows in the explorer lounge (crows nest) on the front of the boat were foggy (assume seal was broken and condensation got in) You could not even see out of them. So when you wanted to view the glaciers with the the 100's of other people in the lounge trying as well, viewing was limited. Holland America should at least have those big viewing windows fixed. I can not recommend this ship. Also we took the Denali visit package before the cruise that Holland America offered. The Hotel in Anchorage was ancient and the room, well, motel six might be better. Again disappointing. Rarely do I complain, but I could not let this go by. Thought you should know.

Never had a huge desire to visit Alaska. I'm not a fan of cold weather...and as expected, it was cold. Scenery is beautiful.

Alaska is a wonderful cruise. I highly recommend a trip this way. Spend some time on land in the Anchorage/Denali area. I would be apprehensive using Holland again. Some of this is on me. I did not research the ship itself well enough. I think this company has food service issues and they don’t seem all that organized for embarking and disembarking. Not much can be said for their “sales seminars” and quality of entertainment. The staff was very friendly, courteous, but maybe a little detached.

Holland America really made my first cruise amazing. Top notch!! They set the bar so high, I can't imagine cruising with another line! I will be back!!

We had a good time. Our stewards were amazing. The embarkation and disembarkation were enough to turn me off cruising for good. Note: I did not have the option to choose our proper itinerary- we did a 7-day with stops in Ketchikan , Juneau and Skagway.

Due to this cruise being so bad I am done cruising after 15 cruises. The ship got the Noro virus it was very rapid spreading on board.

Very disappointing embarkment, so disorganized. Lineups everywhere for meals, shuttle buses and embarkment. Entertainment disappointing bring back The Ocean Five and The Drifters. Bring back the beautiful costumes and nice dancing. Food and service excellent! The staff were so accommodating and hard working.

Overall the cruise was great. There were some minor issues but it is an older ship. She is well maintained and the staffs are very helpful.

Mixed review….scenery was magnificent, employees generally excellent except for one from the art gallery, food generally great except for the seafood on the last night which caused massive diarrhea n visit to emergency when we reached shore

This cruse was awful, boring and the ports were expensive and no good beach experience. The food was not even edible and the dining room food was the same as the cafeteria, same menu they only difference was they served you. The add one were ridiculous, $320 for internet that hardly worked, $36 a day fro crew appreciation, $329 for just the pop drink package, the pizza place was basically frozen pizza warmed up and the music at the pool was Euro tech/pop so sitting out was annoying. The spa prices were $420 for a message, a can of Pringles in the ship store were $8, excursion were upwards of $200 and the last island being taken off the itinerary was not compensated for. Plan on spending at least another $1000 a$2000 and being hungry on ship days because the food is not satisfying and we were just trying to find something that to fill us up. I would never do this cruise again and could hardly wait to get off.

I would like to call out a couple of staff at Holland America that went over and above their call of duty. First is Jajang (server) and the second is Russell at BB Kings bar.

Great weather all week and beautiful sights. I enjoyed being able to go to five different beaches to enjoy the ocean and all it had to offer. I did miss seeing a turtle up close, but did see sting rays, sand dollars, blue wrasse, drum fish, trumpet fish, parrot fish, butterfly and many other types of fish. The beaches were clean and it was a wonderful week.

The cruise tour from the ship for Curacao was OK not great

I would have rated this cruise as average or slightly above if Holland had not totally messed up the itinerary. As it turned out, we only had one port (Curacao) to enjoy a beach or excursion.

This is nice ship, not too big, with a relatively logical design. There's a lot of activities, mostly the usual games, trivia, show, comedians. Newer to us on this line were coloring, a painting class, a mixology class, tai chi classes, some educational talks, and live classical music recitals. The Crow's Nest is a great place to relax indoors and still watch the ocean go by. There are also some good drink deals which I've never seen on any other mainstream cruiseline, including a complimentary sail-away party on our one real port day. The one smoking area unfortunately is particularly offensive, as the smoke permeates the entire aft pool area plus many indoor areas in the vicinity. Overall, a good cruise with very good food (try ALL the breads!) and fabulous service.

Relaxing, I loved meeting the captain, and the crew, I know so many working behind the scenes to make this a great voyage. Food outstanding. Entertainment was good and varied. I need to embrace the virtual communications better, as I miss the write ups that were given regarding each island and what to expect. Did not like the drink package option of all in the cabin must purchase, I understand it, but do not like it. I am a '1 star mariner' but did not know if that included anything? but no matter, I prefer Holland America ships for the size and pace. Thank you - I brought a friend that had never sailed before, and she is ready to go again, so you made another cruiser of her.

disappointment with the $$$credit of $300.00 not given as of yet. I would like to have it otherwise will never take another cruse with Holland and at present I planing 2 trips, 1 Baltics 2 south pacific

Went on the New Year's cruise for 9 days to southern carribean. Crew was excellent, but food was not all that great and there was nothing much to do at all on ship. Islands were nice. Cabin was spacious with Elemis products. Got a great facial at the spa but massage wasnt as good as other cruise ships. This ship is geared more toward an older crowd so if youre looking for entertainment or are bringing kids i do not recommend. We are 40 years old and were bored to death on the ship. Then my husband caught Covid near end of the cruise.

Awesome cruise, musicians, food and beverage, port stops, everything was perfect!

I will give it 6 stars in ac scale of 1-5. Much better that what we was expecting (first cruse for us). A week with 4 stops was also perfect in length. The ship, New Amsterdam was the smallest in Fort Lauderdale but for us without kids it was perfect size.
