Review summary

Overall the cruise was great. There were some minor issues but it is an older ship. She is well maintained and the staffs are very helpful.

Embarkation

1 out of 5
Embarkation at Canada Place was the most chaotic thing I've ever experience. There was very little organization and it took well over 2 hrs to get on the ship.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Main dining room was great both times that we ate there, I wish we ate there more often, but 2 hr dinner was too long for us. The buffet food was so-so, but they had scoped ice cream which made up for the food. We did not eat at any of the specialty restaurant on this cruise.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
For this cruise we did not use the pool or hot tub, they were almost always occupied by children and their parents. And the adult only pool was outside and it's too cold for that. There is a gym, and we accidentally walked in there once.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
The talks were very informative and I enjoyed that. The main shows were good for the most part. The dance shows were really good, the magician was fine but entertaining, the comedian was good too. There were other music venues on the ship, the BBKing's were really good, but the venue was always too packed for my liking.

Children's Programs

I don't have children.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The staffs were great. They are friendly and are willing to help. Some of them look tired but I can't blame them, they work everyday for like 8 months, and people can be really demanding.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
I love the ships layout. Deck 3 was my favorite because of the open promenade (we were on Discovery Princess in Feb 2023, and discovered quickly how unhappy we were without one). Especially for an Alaskan cruise that cruises through Glacier Bay NP, this deck was great! Very few people were on this deck and it's a great place to get some steps in.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
This cabin had some issues. The first was the view, please be warn that your view will be obstructed!! I did not know this when picking this cabin and was very bummed when I saw my view. Also note that you must turn the key on the balcony door to make sure that it's shut all the way, or else you will not be able to open your stateroom door due to the pressure. We learn this the hard way. Besides that, during our cruise the toilet stopped flushing, and the balcony door broke (unable to open or shut all the way), but the staff got it fixed for us. Overall, the cabin was worn, but clean.

Ports of call

Vancouver (Canada Place), British Columbia

This was our embarkation and disembarkation port, we did not do an excursion but it's a nice port.

Cruise Inside Passage, Alaska

Inside passage, whenever we were inside was great. Day 2 when we were heading up to Juneau, it was rough for me.

Juneau, Alaska

We arrived late, but we docked right in town and it was very convenient. We did an express blue bus to the Mendenhall Glacier and it was lovely. We arrived late so we only got 2 hrs to spend at Mendenhall before the last bus at 7PM

Skagway, Alaska

5 out of 5
We got a nice sunny day in Skagway. We explored the town, which was cute. We also booked a bus tour to the Yukon and back. It was beautiful and still covered in snow in early May.

Cruise Glacier Bay

5 out of 5
This was my favorite of the whole cruise! Besides the Glacier, we also saw a bunch of otters, moutain goats (from a far) and a whale. But the star was obviously the Glaciers. We were really lucky to have a sunny day so we could see the mountain peaks and the river of ice (glacier).

Ketchikan, Alaska

We did Snorkel Alaska as an excursion. It was unique and I highly recommend them if you want to do something unique. We saw a bunch of little jelly fish, barnacles eating, and some baby salmon (we think). Our instructors also showed us sea stars, sea urchin, and sea cucumber. I love animals so this was my jam.

Disembarkation

2 out of 5
This was also messy, but a lot better than Embarkation.
