I was very disappointed with entertainment, food, and lack of fun activities. I would only recommend this cruise to older people who are looking for peace and quiet, and not activities. I became very bored after a week, as did most people I talked to, so I am not sailing with Holland again. For the cost of the cruise it was not worth it.

Wonderful cruise experience even considering all the port changes due to hurricane damage. We had a great time and will definitely consider taking Holland America Line in the future.

This was a great cruise with many amazing experiences. The staff, crew, and excursions were great. They need to improve the drink staff in Lido when it comes to providing water especially in the morning.

This cruise was just delightful! The ship was in pristine clean condition, the food was outstanding, all the staff were awesome. One couldn't have asked for more friendly helpful people. This was a pretty well perfect cruise and vacation.

This is our second Holland American cruise...and won't be our last. The cruise experience they provide is outstanding. The food is wonderful...even the desserts which, too frequently on cruises are pretty but tasteless...these were wonderful! The service was excellent! We loved the spa! We have already booked another passage with them!

This is the prefect beginner cruise with smooth waters and great sights. However, this was our second time on this particular cruise and it is one that you could do over and over and see something new every time. Great fun and very relaxing.

Best = All the food from the Dive-IN burgers, Lido Cafeteria style dinning and the Manhattan Dinning room was so well prepared and presented. It was the highlight of our cruise.

Worst = Smoking was allowed in the casino and it drifted to near by event locations. BUT I have been informed that has changed and all of HAL line will be completely smoke free by the end of the month!

Great cruise with Holland America to Alaska.  Customer Service was A1. Daily meals were great with lots of options.  A wide variety of daily "to do" options to pick from.  Very friendly staff.  

The best part of our recent cruise to Alaska on the Nieuw Amsterdam was the ship and shore excursions.  Both were top notch.  The food was mediocre.  The entertainment was worse.  The staff were like robots.  If Nieuw Amsterdam is to compete effectively in the Alaska market, all three aspects that need improvement will have to improve.

The crew was amazing, always there and always taking care of everything.  Didn't have any problems on the ship.  Everyone says that the departure part is terrible but for us it was great. 

Excellent port calls and cruising through Glacier Bay (3 Glaciers).  Holland provides a very good product, but on-board expenses have become a bit excessive.  The beverage package is excellent.  Evening shows are very good - super talented main show with singers, dancers, and excellent live band.  The Mendenhall Glacier and Salmon Bake shore excursion was excellent at the Juneau port call, but alcohol beverages are not included in the price at the salmon bake and a bit pricey. 

Food Poisoning from what I believe was the Salmon, I asked if it was wild caught or Farmed raised and they said it was Wild Caught, I later found out farmed raised and they pick up in San Diego after having the doctor to our room for Vomiting & Diarrhea for hours, I spent 2 1/2 days in bed, paid for the doctor on board. I asked the doctor if they had any other problems and the reply was yes & they treated 4 others but they didn't considered it an outbreak of any source and just said that it was common for as many people that were on a ship.  

Enjoyed the food on this ship. Also liked the way it was served in the Lido where the courses were served to you instead of everyone handling the utensils.

It is a very restful cruise to take.  And the destination is absolutely beautiful.  The Nieuw Amsterdam Cruise Ship is also beautiful and well maintained.  We paid an excellent price for the cruise, that is why we took it.

I've been on several cruises, but this was the best!  The food was savory, the service very prompt, and the entertainment was top notch.  My favorite performer was Andrew May, a piano player/singer from Scotland.  He took all requests, and somehow sounded just like Billy Joel, Elvis Presley, etc.  The little room was always packed!

The people went out of their way to help in anyway.The disembarkment was the biggest mess we have ever endured.Nobody from the ship helped in anyway,they had day passengers,people ending their cruise all mixed up with excursions.The  only direction came from fellow passengers.The smoking policy left a lot to be desired.

The ship was full of older passengers,a lot with walkers,we are over 70 and felt like kids.If you were up after 8:30 there was hardly anything to do.

The excursions were a joke ,a lot of money to see 3rd world countries.

This was our 33rd cruise and might I say the worst.

Get rid of Cartagena!  or at least the tours.  We sat on a bus until we got to stores-stopped and got to shop (badgered by peddlers).  Got back on bus, went to one museum and paid $54 each for this.   

Liked everything else- Corinto in Nicaguara is very poverty stricken - but the folks there are nice.  We enjoyed the Costa Rica experience - train and mangrove boat

ride.  Mexico excellent and appeared very clean.  

Enjoyed going thru the Canal.  That was on my bucket list.  

Staff on the ship was outstanding as usual.  Managed to gain six pounds eating two desserts on the Lido deck at lunch.

The food on this cruise was exceptional. The menu was different every day except for the standby choices. I especially enjoyed all the wonderful seafood choices. I also enjoyed lunch at the Pinnacle Grill and dinner at the Canaletto. The food for lunch at the Pinnacle was the best. It would be nice if all the specialty restaurants offered lunch options during the cruise.

The seating in the dining room was a little confused and a bit slow. Perhaps people with pre-chosen tables and times could just go in after using their room cards to let you know they arrived.

This ship was one of the cleanest I've ever seen.  We had wonderful stateroom attendants (Agus and Andri). I loved the therapy pool in the spa.  The food was very good.  I wouldn't say excellent, only because some of the evening meal choices were "ok".  We ate in the main dining room every evening and for breakfast.  The wait staff were all very friendly and accommodating.

I prefer reserved dining for the evening meal.  I'm not a big fan of the open dining concept.  I would like to see more opportunity for reserved dining.  In fairness, we asked for a table for 2 and all but one night, our request was granted.  The lunch buffet was just shy of excellent.  Great choices, very well run and super clean.  They had an Asian station and it had to be the best Asian food I've ever had.  Very fresh, they made it many dishes in small batches right in front of you.  The vegetables were crispy and not overly sauced.  They had a carving station, and on one occasion the meat was too tough to eat.  Other than that one occasion, everything I tried was delightful.

This was our first experience with Holland America.  We would use them again.  It is a mid-size ship (which I like).  They cater to an older crowd, so the pace seemed a little slower than what we've seen on other lines.  Not a problem, very relaxing.  Overall, great experience.
