Review summary

Excellent port calls and cruising through Glacier Bay (3 Glaciers). Holland provides a very good product, but on-board expenses have become a bit excessive. The beverage package is excellent. Evening shows are very good - super talented main show with singers, dancers, and excellent live band. The Mendenhall Glacier and Salmon Bake shore excursion was excellent at the Juneau port call, but alcohol beverages are not included in the price at the salmon bake and a bit pricey.

Very good - excellent choice. Upscale dining for fee, over priced, but excellent for a special occasion and worth the experience.

Lots of activities, more than you can most likely take advantage of using. There is no chance of boredom on sea days.

Entertainment

Main show singers, dancers, and band is one of the best in the cruise industry. It's not NYC Broadway, but they are very good and you won't be disappointed - extremely talented.

Excellent stateroom on the port side Cabin stewards are awesome.

Ship tip

Travel as light as possible - makes traveling much more easy. Don't be concerned about formal wear - HAL doesn't enforce the policy - smart casual will work. The specialty dining is a bit overpriced, but are worth the experience and excellent choice of that special evening or occasion to celebrate

Loved the Alaska cruise ,used the Lido dining all the time found it good. Did no tours too expensive and were retired so on a budget .Room was good we had a balcony on deck 5 at the rear of the ship ,very good views and quiet .Downside was the 15% service charge on drinks a bit cheeky and the hitel service charge of $12.50 a day per person which you can decline .They should pay staff proper wages and not expect guests to subsidise pay .I did tip my room boy and got good service but the rest of the charges how do you know the staff get any of it .
