Review summary

It was restful, fun and most of all great without alot of unruly kids with drunken parents. The staff was phenomenal!!! Food was exceptional both in presentation and taste. Shows were entertaining. Cabin was wonderful bed extremely comfortable. I can't say anything but good things about it. My husband on the other hand was disappointed that there was no duck hunt on the cruise. (On our honeymoon cruise they hid rubber ducks all over the ship that you had to find and he missed that, yes it was a Holland America cruise, it was just a cute fun thing to do. And no, even though I wanted to, I did not strangle my husband because he complained about no duck hunt every other day on our Anniversary cruise) Seriously he had a great time too, he admitted it was better than he expected and he loves cruising on Holland America too.

Ship tip

It's a nice size ship with very few children so it's great for someone who wants a relaxing restful environment while sailing.

Hiked through rainforest, it was quite beautiful, hike wasn't easy but it wasn't extremely difficult either, just enough to get your heart rate up and give your legs a good workout

Ketchikan, Alaska

Went on a small nature cruise and ate at a crabfest. Then walked around town. Sat in small Cafe and had the BEST pumpkin spice latte ever!!! IT was relaxing for us. Alot of mass produced touriststy stuff. Not alot of locally produced things

It was early and fast. Everything moved smoothly arrived at airport quickly. The transfer of luggage to airport by Holland America was a Godsend and saved alot of time and trouble.

Ms. Nieuw Amsterdam was our very first cruise in 2010. It was such an amazing trip and she's the reason we got hooked on cruising. Everything we experienced was wonderful, and we felt we were treated like royalty. So glad you had a great experience too, HAL never disappoints. ❤
