Trying but not there yet. by mrnew2008

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Overall, for a first time cruiser, I think you will enjoy it. I liked it because I simply love cruising and I make the very best of my sea days, my balcony, and my vacation time. MSC is new to year round Caribbean trips from Miami and as they get better I think they will be a fierce competitor. Right now, I think they cater more to Europeans as I felt speaking English that I was in the minority. If you are thinking of taking a cruise with MSC, try it, have a different mindset, and relax. My children sailed for FREE which was a major selling point for me as well as the itinerary locations. Since I have cruised 4 other cruise lines, my expectations are different. However, if I am given the right price, my children sail for free, and they make improvements in the food, service, and entertainment, I will definitely sail will MSC again.

have fun and gain informatiion by shinydiamonds28

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The ship is a fun , clean  ,  and beautiful .  But we had problems with our card at the end to pay.  We told our bank we were in the Caribbean . But we had no idea that the ship's bank was a French one.  So our bank put a safety alert block

thinking our card was stolen.  Then we couldn't check out at the end..  It was a lot

to try and on a week-end to contact our bank to release the block so we could pay our bill.  Some where in the information about passports and ect.  The ship should also mention about what bank the ship uses., that would avoid alot of future problems.

Smelly pillows and worn linen spoil trip! by glockett

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

I would have given this trip a four star for bad restaurant service of beverages and breads, but sleeping on smelly pillows (sweat smelling) every night was horrible! I asked three nights in a row, for different pillows, and was told by steward that his supervisor said there was no more pillows. The sheets were so old that they had this knotty feel to them. I have been on many cruises and have never had a problem like this. I will never sail with MSC again. That said, the Michael Jackson tribute was excellent.

Excellent Staff but rude guests & too much in-your-face sales! by reneeearliecola

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I enjoyed my cruise on MSC and plan to book with the cruise line within the next year.  They have a ship which goes to Martinique and Guadelope.  The decor of the ship is beautiful but it is spoiled by the numerous amounts of sales booths throughout the ship.  I really enjoyed the dining service in the Black Crab, the beverage service in the Divina bar, the Cigar Bar and the casino.  Because of my casino play, I received a discounted choice of cruises on MSC for an upcoming trip.  There were too many rude children running throughout the ship and jumping in and out of the pools and hot tubs.  Their parents [European] had no control over them nor did it seem that they cared.  The guests were rude to the staff and others by shoving, reaching over other guests in the buffet area.  The children would also sneeze anywhere without covering their mouths.  I rarely saw anyone use hand sanitizer which was throughout the dining areas.  The buffet food was excellent and quite a variety but there were too many guests, not enough staff to clean the tables properly nor effectively.  The food on the steam tables did not remain hot but the pizza varieties were the best I have ever tasted anywhere.  It ranks right up there with real Italian pizza in Italy.  Overall, in spite of the rude guests, I would sail the MSC line again, but on a smaller ship and during the semesters when children are in school.  I had a fabulous room attendant by the name of Urip from Indonesia.

Beautiful ship, great meals, very nice service. Lovely shows by cristinajimenez

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

HappyDefinitely recommend this cruise.  There is something for every one and every age.  Shows are great, entertainment is fun and upbeat. Live music very good.  Excellent food.  You have to get up early if you want a beach chair or a dip in the pool.  It gets crowded.  Was our first cruise and we loved it!!! Went with 28,25 and 24 year old son and daughters.

***Worst Cruise In My Lifetime (10 prior cruises)*** by AlphaG

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Where do I start...hmm.  Let me say this, the ship externally and internally is beautiful.  We were also happy with the size of our room (handicap balcony).  The service rendered to clean the room was immaculate as well.  Aside from those three things, this by far has been the WORST cruise experience ever.  I've sailed with Carnival, Royal, and Norweigan - each of which have flaws - however, MSC just did not fit the bill.  Let me give a quick run down.  1)  By far, the worst experience on this ship was the food.  It was below subpar at best. Angry  First night in the dining hall, my dinner napkin, glass, utensils and table cloth ALL had either stains or food on them.  Secondly, the food was moderately warm at best.  Typical food on a cruise is bland, but when I bite into broccoli, I don't expect juice to squirt out like an orange!  Lastly, the buffet food was re-purposed daily.  The rice name changed daily, but the taste didn't.  Rice Pilaf, Sticky Rice, Lemon Thyme Rice, Dirty Rice (which was clean) - it was god awful.  One positive - the fruit was great!!  2)  Entertainment was very limited as compared to my other sailings.  I advise you to bring several books and tons of sun tanning lotion! When you think of going on a cruise, you think of these 4 key elements to fun - great food, entertainment, service, and excursions.  Our ship sailed to Bahamas, St. Martin and San Juan.  Since I'd previously visited each, I was primarily sailing for an experience with a different ship - bad idea.  3)  The patrons on the ship were primarily foreigners - roughly 70%.  So when you bump in to someone by accident or want to start a conversation, make sure you've brushed up on your German, Spanish, and Dutch! Big Smile Sadly, I'll probably never cruise MSC again.  First impressions are lasting ones, unfortunately, they left me with an UNFORGETTABLE ONE! Nervous

MSC Divina was "Divine!" by Cruiser11680488

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

This was our first time on an MSC ship and was a little skeptical not knwing what to expect but I must say we LOVED it!! We frequently cruise and was very impressed. From the moment we boarded the ship to the unfortunate moment we had to disembark. The crew was incredible, the food amazing and ship left me wondering what the new ships coming out will be like compared to Divina. Looking forward to booking our next vacation in the near future. Highly recommend it.

First time on MSC Divina by serramendez

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This is the first time on MSC Divina.Since we booked our cruise we've seen the reviews improving so we were happy about that. We really enjoyed our vacations. We were pleased with the service, our room was clean and cozy, the ship is beautiful, the swarovski stairs are stunning. We really liked the pool area, is modern and family friendly. We really liked the shows on the theater.  The singers are great, especially the tenor. We attended our first opera show and we loved it. We really want to distinguish the fabulous work of the entertainment crew.

But there are little things that we think they should improve. I think they should include a formal breakfast in the restaurant, like other cruises, because the buffet got really congested in the morning. Plus, in the lunch time they have a good variety of pizza but they should include more food besides hot dogs and burguers and fries.

Another thing is that the we feel that  we were a little rushed in some Islands like Bahamas because we had little time to explore the island because the Cruise arrived at 12 or 12:30 and we had to be on board  at 4:30 pm. Some passenger complained that we had to make a long line to get off the ship and that they were rushed in their excursions.  We really enjoyed the shows but I think they should include comedy shows too and sometimes after 9:45 pm they were not a lot things to do. Also the jewelry on the cruise was too expensive in other cruises we were able to buy some jewelry. But most of the jewels were over the $2000 and even fantasy jewelry was $60 or more so in that sense is not so budget friendly. Another thing is that they dont have an iron on the room or even on the same deck, you have to pay for every piece of clothing. I don't think that's something that people take in consideration when they're making there budget for a vacation. But in overall we had a Very good experience in MSC ship and we could go in another ship soon.

Worst Cruise Ever! by karate6818

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Let me start out with our experience prior to boarding our cruise. The MSC website was routinely unavailable so it forced you to call the 800 number. Most of the time it was a long wait to speak to a representative. Prior to our cruise I requested later seating for dining. I was told I would be accommodated. I received my documents stating I was on a wait list for second seating. Once again I contacted MSC and was told they could not resolve the issue and I would have to talk to the maitre d when I boarded. They assured me It would not be a problem. The embarkation process was very smooth except we found out you have to assign a credit card to your account once you get on the ship. Once on board we immediately went to the dining room to see if we can switch our dining time. We waited to speak to the maitre d and we were told he would see what we can do. Not a surprise he did not accommodate us! Maybe he was waiting for a handout like the couple in front of us gave him. We had prepaid for drink vouchers and were told to pick them up in the casino on the first day. When we got there, we explained to the woman that was helping us that we prepaid. She said she understood but needed our room key. Later that night in the restaurant, one of the restaurant staff gave us an envelope that contained drink vouchers. I explained to him that we received them already. He said he would check and get back to us which he never did. Not a surprise but we were charged for the vouchers, which I had to get straightened out with guest services. When we get to our room, the handicap accessible ramp to the balcony was broken and I tripped and almost hit my head. Once again, I go to guest services, wait on a long line, To explain the situation. I was told by Raymond that safety is MSC's priority. Well, 3 days later the problem was fixed! Due to our inconvenience, they gave comped us dinner at the galaxy restaurant which was very delicious and probably one of the only great things that came out of this cruise. The excursions we choose were organized and lots of fun. Trying to find a seat at the buffet was chaotic. Most of the time, we could not find a table and had to eat elsewhere on the ship. The food in the restaurants was much better than the buffet. Workers were polite and attentive. Entertainment was good but needed more variety. Through my experiences ,other cruise lines do a better job.

Horrible Experience - Save your $$ by chubroc

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The cruise staff was the rudest I have ever encountered. From top to bottom, nobody on the staff cared if you had a great vacation. It was like they were inconvenienced to help you and take care of you. I had issues with wait staff, casino staff and even had an argument with the Excursion Director Sphindile Nduli since she could care less that they sent us out on an excursion that was totally not safe for people to be on. I can go on and on but don't want to go overboard. No band near the pool during the day, they just showed an MSC commercial all day long on repeat on the big screen. The casino did not open half the tables so if you did not get a seat early in the night, you wouldn't get one. I had to play slots just to gamble since the tables never opened. No matter how busy the casino was, they would just close at 2:30am. They didn't care that passengers were having a good time.

First and last time with MSC by nina7044

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

After my experience with MSC cruiseline I would not recommend them for any first time or experience cruisers. You will be disappointed as I was. The ship is nicely decorated and the balcony cabin was small but cozy. But the crew were very stand offish, did not engage guest, did not smile. My fiance and I were actually accused by the housekeeper that we drank from the mini bar and left us a bill. It took much convincing to get him to come to the cabin to show him that the bottle he was charging us for was purchased with our voucher package. He presented with disbelief and stated that he thought we drank from the mini bar and used a lime from the buffet to put in the drink. However he did not apologize for his mistake once it was brought to his attention that the bottle was in the fridge. The buffet was the worst. The food was the same each day. If your a lover of pizza that would be great for this cruise however enough already. The food trays were empty and we would have to stand and wait for them to replenish it. The buffet would close with minimal late night snacks. They ran out of ice in the buffet on several occasions and when it was mentioned to the crew they appeared to not understand English so we would insist on them understanding there was no ice in the machine. After waiting for an extended period of time upon my request one of the crew brought me a half a cup of ice.  The entertainment was corny with the exception of the Michael Jackson performance which happened on the last night. The cruise itineray changed port dates but didint inform the guests so when we looked out our cabin we were in Florida when we thought we were in the Bahamas. The only good thing that came out of that was when we arrived in the Bahamas it was July 4th which was my birthday. So I had a chance to enjoy and was thankful for the itineray change since the port at Florida had nothing there nor did it have any excursions to Disney. This cruise was the worst cruise I have ever been on out of 15 other cruises. It was a waste of our time and money. Do yourself a favor and don't cruise with MSC!!!!!!

Great cruise at a great price by sbtjat

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Once again MSC delivers a great cruise.

Food service etc was very good.

Quickest disembarkation, simple but effective - excellent

Not so sure Port Canaveral can be called a cruise destination unless you want to go to Kennedy etc. Needs just a bit more time to develop.

Food was excellent at the buffet and in the dining room.

A little chaotic at the buffet depending on time but a lot of people did not realize that the buffet goes around the whole of the deck. Go to the back and it is relatively quit even at busy times. Food was excellent and diverse, something for everybody.

Staff were great, always polite and courteous. Just one grumpy barman!

looking forward to our next cruise!Happy

ps entertainment is vey good

Nice ship but service isn't good by lisa373

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

The ship is very nice and we never felt crowded, but the service wasn't good except for one or two. The people on the ship are rude, and I believe that may have to do with language barriers more than anything. The food was mediocre and the 'fun' was non-existent.  The shows were mostly good, two out of three were very entertaining.  Unfortunately we probably won't go on a MSC cruise again.  I believe since they are fairly new to cruising they just don't have a good system down yet.

Unorganized and disrespectful staff. by emsliecraig

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

This cruise line is the worst I'vr been on. Photography staff hxighly disrespectful towards guests. Many of the other guests had the same problem with the photography staff.

Dinner seatings were incorrect. We booked for late seating and got placed in early seating (cauzing us yo miss the first nights dinner as we were unaware of this change.)

I'll never go on the MSC DIVINA AGAIN!

4th of July cruise by bonitapr48

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

evening entertainment was great it was a 3 night cruise our balcony cabin was fantastic.  The stop to Port Canaveral was boring nothing  to do there everyone was on the ship. The Bahamas been there done it stood in ship again.

As for the food I didnt get to eat in dinning room did the buffet. Food could of been warmer always was cold all the dishes that was the down size of it. But just a 3 night cruise I dealt with it. There set up in the buffet is not the greatest  I must say hopefully there new ship that coming next year will be better.

Family cruise by shanephillipsva

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Overall the cruise and the staff were amazing!! Food was good. The Buffett could have offered a little more late night atuff and room service was hit or miss. Activities need to include younger kids for all as well. Worst part was lack of bathing suit coverage for women especially. A lot of thong suits and tiny suits. I didn't like that in the presence of my kids and wife. The cruise itself was amazing and the gentleman who cleaned the rooms was top notch!!

Wonderful trip by imim1325

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)

Loved having our balconies all in a row.  So relaxing.  A place to touch base between activities. We enjoyed the excursions.  We all met for dinner every evening.  Our waiter was so much fun.  The food was great. And the entertainment was really good.
