Other than the really bad weather this cruise was everything we had hoped it would be. Princess again, doesn't fail in giving its customers a memorable cruising experience. The bad weather was a disappointment as we missed 2 ports, but you can't fight Mother Nature. She has total control over everything when it comes to cruising. We waited a long time to finally go on our Alaska cruise and can't wait to go on another one...Won't go in September though...Don't wait...book a cruise now, you won't regret it..
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Embarkation was fairly organized except for those passengers that showed up before their assigned times and then didn't listen to instructions
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
We felt that with the exception of Alfredos, the food was ok..not as good in pre-pandemic cruising. The pizza at Alfredos was fabulous!
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
We did two wine tasting events, listen to music, went to the Casino and a show. The outside decks were mostly closed off due to the bad weather.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
We did go to a show on the last night of the cruise. Prior shows on prior cruises were sort of ok, but this cruise seemed to have taken a big step forward.
Children's Programs
We have grown children
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
We did not encounter one member of the staff that wasn't helpful, smiling or otherwise in a good mood. They all seemed to be genuinely happy to be back aboard and working. They do a fantastic job!
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
I have never been on a Princess ship that wasn't clean from top to bottom..The Majestic sparkled and the staff took all precautions in cleaning at all times.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
We were offered an upgrade to a mini suite. The size and cleanliness was fine. We were on the top most deck of cabins and with the stormy seas that we had, the movement up that high was very noticeable. During the rough weather the cabin creaked and moaned but found out other cabins did the same too. Can't fault the cabin for the excessive movement, we made the decision to take the higher cabin knowing the risk. Just didn't expect the really bad weather we had.
We did a whale watching/Mendenhall Glacier Excursion. It was an all day excursion and no stopping for lunch. We did the tour through The Allen Family and I would highly recommend them. It was late in the season and didn't expect to see whales but we did and it was amazing. They did have snacks on the boat like chips, etc, but that didn't quite do it for us. The scenery that you see on this excursion is breathtaking and the tour guides know they're stuff!
I have yet to find a word that describes what you will see when you cruise through Glacier Bay. Breathtaking, Inspirational come to mind, but you'll just have to see for yourself. Princess I believe is only 1 of 2 cruise lines that are able to sail all the way into Glacier Bay. Holland America being the other line. If you can, get a balcony cabin and you can sit on your balcony and watch everything. We did go up on deck and listened to the naturalist talk about the history, etc of the Bay..It was very informative.
Other than the usual sadness at having to get off the ship, disembarkation was a breeze. We took advantage of the new Port Valet that takes your bag the night before and sends it through to your final desitnation. It worked well for us as the airline broke 3 of the wheels on our bag and it was the heaviest of all our bags.
Enjoyed your comment. We sailed the week before you and agree everything was fantastic. Our weather was wet!!! No sitting on balcony but hey we were happy to be aboard. Glad you enjoyed.
