Newlywed First Time Cruisers by rdhj05

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

As a newlywed couple who had just gotten got married the day before, and also had never cruised before, we did not know what we were getting ourselves into. We loaded the ship and set off on our week long voyage. From the jump I was all for it. The cruising, the destinations, and the cruise back home, we were all too excited. I loved every minute of it and did not want to come back home. The entertainment was live, the food was great, and the overall staff whether it was our stateroom attendant or dining room staff or just overall staff, everyone was polite and friendly and made sure we were enjoying ourselves.

Great Trip for the money by bagman007

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

the trip was great.  We were a little disappointed in the paid for foot. The add on restaurants were very good, especially the Italian place. did not place the money for booking with them on the account so that was frustrating.

The staff on board were all very friendly and efficient.  The service in the dining areas was excellent.  The food was good.  The ship itself was very pretty and well kept.  The shopping was not so good.  We would cruise Royal Caribbean again without pause.

Fabulous RC Cruise - again! by winmond

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Royal Caribbean for us is the only way to cruise.  We've tried others, but we always come back to what we consider to be the best.  Three of my husband's sisters cruised with us on this cruise - birthday presents - and they loved it.  For two sisters, it was their first time cruising and they'll be back.  An eighty year old and an eighty-five year old - how's that for being first-time cruisers?!!!

RC staff are always smiling and our stateroom attendants were always singing.  How can they be singing?  First thing in the morning and they're cleaning everyone's rooms and bathrooms?  But there they are singing and joking with each other - smiling from ear to ear.  What a glorious greeting we had each morning.

This cruise went to the Western Caribbean and the stops were terrific.  We did the Big French Key island tour on our first stop and it was definitely not worth it.  It did not have "beautiful clear blue waters" - the water we had to swim in was murky and muddy - we sank up to our ankles in gunk - very unappealing and I didn't even want to put my body into the water.  Definitely not up to RC standard regarding their tours.

Costa Maya was fantastic - we did the 8-hour day trip to the ruins and we were not disappointed.  I would suggest taking some extra snacks to eat; the sandwich we were given was on basic white bread, with a small piece of cheese on it and it hardly gave any sustenance which was needed as we climbed up the ruins.

Cozamel would have been fabulous had we taken a tour but we went in and out of the jewellery stores (don't do it!!!!) trying to "win" a raffle that the ship's entertainment bloke runs.  Do yourself a favour and do one of the tours.  We heard that the beach and snorkelling tours were fabulous.

Liberty of the Seas | Oct 02, 2016 | Western Caribbean by Cruiser66533947

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Michael Hix and The Holla was my favorite part and I would recommend it to others. No other comments available. We had a terrific dining experience. The negative part lies in the hidden daily gratuity charges.

Oct. cruise by schulte

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The ship was clean. People very friendly! Food I thought was good, my husband liked the buffet better, I liked the dinning room better. Entertainment was good until the last night. Question, why do they only show CNN as the only news channel? And since we are in the play-off season in baseball, why play reruns of cricket and soccer? The ship was mostly Americans!

Great cruise! by sade434

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The best part of the cruise was the Tidal Wave water slide. It was a lot of fun! The dining room was beautiful and service was great. The waiters made us feel special. The entertainment wasn't what we were hoping for - too many comedians, but they were good. The headliner show Saturday Night Fever was slow and really not family friendly because of scenes of fighting and some of the costumes. Some of the venues were too small for the amount of people. Ship was beautiful and we really enjoyed the cruise. The biggest complaint would be that they cancelled Grand Cayman.

Amazing by sissyvann

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This trip was more than I imagined.  The customer  service was impeccable. I did desire different food choices, but what was available was delicious. I'm just a simple  eater. My favorite experience was the Dolphin and Manatee Encounter. I felt like I worked for SeaWorld!!! It was like I was in an alternate reality. Everyone was so kind and friendly. I do recommend  getting the Ultimate  drink package. It is well worth it. I really want to do this again sooon.

Review of Liberty of Seas cruise by rshorner

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We were disappointed and some of the reasons are the food quality has went down and we think it is because they are trying harder than ever to sell you on paying upcharge for their specialty restaurants onboard. Another huge disappointment was that they cancelled going to Grand Cayman and excuse did not hold water, about having to use dinigies or small boats to get to shore because no pier to dock at and said weather was bad, well other ships we talked with people on them said weather was great sunny no wind ect. Another problem was we only received 75.00 onboard credit and was supposed to be 125.00 and received no compensation for any of the problems mentioned above.

LOS review oct 2 by davidhopkins

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The ship was great. Food in MDR was so good and our waiter Michael and assistant waiter Jing Jing were on the top of their game every night and made our table feel welcome. Our galley tour that we purchased was fun however i would recommend that they show some food actually being prepared so people can get the full experience. Windjammer was just ok food but for a buffet that is to be expected. As far a disembarkation in ports, cosumel was kinda chaotic and then we missed our excursion due to the excursion team wanting us to meet in the theatre before we had even docked. thankfully we did still get to do one just not the one we had hoped to do. we did not go to grand cayman as the captain decided that it would not be safe to do so because of choppy waters. Jamaica was nice and disembarkation and embarkation was smooth. Galveston disembarkation was chaotic at best as they released too many passengers into the terminal.

Grand cayman by dtovar

I was disappointed we couldn't see grand cayman but understood why. I think the ship could have done a better job at giving some kind of incentive but nothing was given.

Perfect vacation by jphd323

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The overall experience was above and beyond our expectations.  From embarking until we arrived back at to our home port was perfect.  The only reason I didn't add disembarking was because we didn't want to get off. There is always something to do no matter what your past time activities. Sun, sports, water, dancing, ice skating, broadway plays, shopping, casinos, bingo, game shows, comedy shows. I think the best part is if your tired you go to your room and take a nap.  Its all up to you. Eat when you want, sleep when you want, and play when you want. Perfect vacation.

The Liberty of the Seas if a beautiful ship! The staff were all so friendly and helpful! I would not recommend the Johnny Rockets though, as the got our order wrong and it took too long for this to be corrected. Over all it was a good experience for a first time cruiser!

Amazing Main Dining Staff by mse283

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

My favorite time on the cruise was the main dining room. Not because of the food but because of the staff. Three males Jesus, Luckner and Valdimre (I think that was his name) was excellent.

Mexico Cruise by Cruiser29689684

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We very much enjoyed our time on the ship.  The food was excellent.  The Suite we were in was always stocked up and very clean and orderly.  Our state room attendant knew us and talked to us every time he saw us.   I have always cruised with Royal Caribbean and will do so again.   The Hoof and Claw and the Pool bar were very nice and always there when we needed something.

My experience by chado74

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I have been on 3 Carnival cruises prior to this Royal Caribbea cruise.

I heard from many people that the RC was overall better.

Well the first two days onboard, our cabin toilet did not work.

I notified the steward & maintenance who were "working on the problem."

Was not fun having to use a hallway bathroom each time we had to go.

Another downside is that the small refrigerator in our cabin was not turned on to cool.  I was told by the steward that they are all always room temperature.

Odd to say the least.

I would say the buffet food was the same as Carnivals.

The main dining room food quality was quite a bit worse than Carnivals unfortunately.

We ate at Giovanni's Table one night.  The food was just so-so for a premium.

We also ate at Chop's Grille which the food quality was much better but the service was lacking.  My food sat under a visible heat lamp for almost 9 minutes after the Chef placed it for pick up before anyone brought it.  The wait staff does not assist each other here which I find disturbing.  How can a restaurant flow properly without everyone working as a team?  Mind you I saw 5 waiters and 1 manager literally standing by our food leaning around while our waiter was at a computer terminal putting in another table's order.

I talked with the cruise director while he was getting food at the buffet one night.

I asked him why there were no magic acts on the lineup.

He says they rarely bring them onboard.

Johnny Rockets was pretty good if you can go when they are not slam busy.

$6.95 for all you can eat minus the shakes & ice cream.

The service there was very slow too.  Most of the staff looked miserable to be working there.

Another downside is during certain ports where we had to tender from ship to boat to pier, there was no signage directing people where to go.

My party & another 60+ guests were struggling to find out where to go to get off the ship.  Two different RC gave us totally different directions with the last one directing us to a table at the rear lounge. No one was at this table once we arrived.

Luckily the cruise director was walking by & finally directed everyone where to go.

We "barely" made it aboard the tender boat in time.

A plus to this RC ship is there is ALOT more shopping & things to do than on the Carnival ship.

Be prepared to spend a lot more on soda packages on RC.  They were $8.50 per person per day.  Carnival was a flat rate of @ $30ish for the whole week.

If you have done the Cat in the Hat breakfast on Carnival, stick with that.

The Dreamworks Breakfast on RC S-U-C-K-S.
