Smoke filled Liberty of the Seas by 2morehogs

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The dining selections weren't as good as in my past cruises. The casino was so smoke filled that I couldn't stay in it very long. The non-smoking areas of the casino were not any better that the smoking areas. The non-smoking table games were always the last to open and then completely full when they were open. I have been a loyal RCCL cruiser but if they don't care anymore about their non-smoking guests, I will switch to Celebrity which has smoke free casinos and less smoking areas to deal with.

Some Hiccups by angelmyheart52

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

My favorite part of our cruise was the sea days when one could relax and join in the activities that were offered. There weren't as many activities as previous cruises we've taken, but what was offered was good. The dining room service was excellent after finding the right table. The first two nights were not great; slow service and not very friendly servers. But we found Nicoleta and Uryii and they were fun, friendly and very good. Our stateroom attendant, Tamika, is a must! She was awesome! I was disappointed by the spa. When I tried to make an appointment during the last two sea days, I was told that "every single appointment had been booked online". Sorry! Then, we get these notices every night for spa specials. I never did ask how that was possible if everything was "booked." Some events were unorganized, but we got through. All in all, it was a pleasant cruise.

Best Ship Ever by beckidid

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Our handicapped room was awesome. Large enough to hold our motorized scooter and walker and still have ample room to move around. The dining experience was stellar. The room attendant was wonderful. The shows were good, not spectacular, but good. However, The Platters performance was top-notch.

I thought the buffets were so-so. I would like to have seen a snack bar with hamburgers and a taco bar. Pizza was the only thing available after hours abnd the sandwich cafe. My biggest complaint, in regards to food, was room service. The selection was pitiful and not too good. I would like see bottled water offered without coffee sting an arm and a leg!  The ship's desalinated water tastes good but causes an awful lot of adema and swelling. Which can be very dangerous, especially for the senior travelers.

We loved the the entire experience, really. We'll definitely cruise Royal Caribbean again. The Liberty of the Seas was a stunning ship. Very well laid out and delightful to experience.

Food and Service by bbartlett

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group

Food in the dining room was not good. Dinner rolls were hard, menu was confusing, service was poor, etc. Also the lobster was of very poor quality. The meat was black on the edges and gray in the body.

Royal Caribbean cruise lines charge babies a $13.50 per day tip. That is BAD. We had 21 people in our cruising group and all the small children were charged the same tip. This is GREED.

Worst Travel experience on a cruise ever by bjaeger

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I truly enjoyed our dinning room server, Dickki........the water slides were really fun and the only three main shows were good except for when the Night Fever show was cut really short to a malfunction. The Buffet food was the worst I have ever experienced...........This was the third cruise on this cruise line and by far the worst, seemed the theme on the voyage was, we need to get you to the jewelry stores so you can spend all your money.......like leading the captured sheep to slaughter! I would have expected the destinations sweet spots to be the cruise lines main focus for the customers, not the Diamond International shops.

I will not be back on this particular cruise line......most likely Holland America, Princess, Norwegian or Viking

Fantastic, very relaxing and entertaining. by prcasey

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The food was great! The service was excellent, both in Windjammer and formal dining rooms. There was six in our party (3 couples) and we dined in the Rembrandt every night at 8:00 p.m.  At our request we had the same waiter and assistant waiter every evening., and sat at the same table every evening. We were treated like royalty!

Entertainment was very enjoyable and good variety. There just wasn't enough time to go to all functions. We weren't aware of the gospel singers until after their last show. More Gospel music would be one suggestion we would make.

The morning show on TV was a great benefit. Not only for upcoming events, but hints and suggests for the day's events or excursions.  And of course, the shopping tips and deals were greatly appreciated.

The entire crew was extremely gracious and more than willing to assist. Our cabin attendant was very efficient and entertained us every day with a different towel character left in our cabin. She also respected our privacy.

We took advantage of the ship galley tour and lunch with the chef. We were amazed at all that goes into preparing food for the vast number of passengers and crew members. The galley was spotless and organized to exact precision. The chef willingly answered all questions. The lunch after the tour was very delicious and elegant.

We have absolutely NO complaints!  Thank you for a wonderful time! This was our first cruise and we are already looking for another cruise to book for after the holidays. Happy

Not what it use to be. by dlrowland1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

For years I have been telling people that Royal Caribbean was a best value for the dollar among cruise lines.  That is no longer the case.  It had been a few years  since I cruised on RCL and many of the things I had taken for granted no longer exist as a perks for the customer.  I had a junior suite which was roomy but cabin attendant was unfriendly and didn't provide any noticeable degree of service.  When we arrived the waiting line was over two hours long before boarding while waiting in the warm sun.  Cabin sink would not drain and it took a day and a half to get someone to repair it.  Robes are no longer provided unless you ask, which we did and still did not receive them.  No ice in rooms unless you ask and then sometime you get it.  Coffee pot leaked and we inquired about a new one which we never received.  Elevators were always very slow and packed.  I did manage to walk 116 floors the first day (good unplanned  exercise)  If you don't buy drink package cocktails are expensive and weak. Specially restaurants have good service and good food but again, you must pay extra.  The regular dinning rooms were busy and the service a little slow and the quality selection not what it use to be.   Even though we are Crown and Anchor Emerald members we were not able to disembark until the next to the last group and we were required to wait in the skating ring for two hours when we were told by cruise director they were unloading from top decks down and we were on deck 9.  If I was going on a similar venue I would try a different cruise line.  It me feel like the MBA's have take over you know, a penny saved is a penny earned.

unforgettable vacation by privet

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We 've been on 5 cruise lines so far and were a bit reluctant to try RC because we thought it was not for us. We like quiet cruising, enjoying the waves and sea. We were pleasantly surprised that RC had something for everybody. We wanted quiet time ,so we were able to enjoy ourselves  on decks 4 or 12. The ship Liberty was gorgeous! We loved it. I was a bit disappointed that  my "3 dark  caves " tour in Belize was cancelled for safety reasons(high water after rains) but I went to the spa instead and relaxed there for an hour 99 USD special. We were very impressed with a very friendly and caring crew. Those people did everything to make customers happy. Jacob was in a wheel chair this time and we are very grateful to people who helped us to board the ship and later depart it. We would like to especially mention our waiters Noel and Evhen Korolov at table 477  5.30 dining at Michelangelo . They were amazing providing very personal and enjoyable service. We really were looking forward to see them again every evening. They were always giving us very helpful recommendations and their choice of food was a win every time. They are extremely  professional and exceptionally good at their job.  We also want to thank our cabin attendant  Jinhee Kim who did an outstanding job several times a day. Our cabin was always clean and tidy. And his towel animals always cheered us up.   I was very impressed with the Filipino  sommelier who gave a wonderful presentation of wines from Rothschild cellars. She did an outstanding job!  We were very happy that we were able to attend Catholic masses almost every day.  I enjoyed Captain's presentation on the 5 November at Star lounge. The captain and other officers impressed me greatly.  We are very grateful to the crew of Liberty of the Seas for our unforgettable vacation and wish everybody all the best. Happy

Not happy with by daveandmichelle

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The cruise was very nice. I am extremely unhappy with though. I booked my cruise over a year ago and asked for a specific room, found out the moment I boarded that booked me in the wrong room. This Was very upsetting, put a damper on my whole trip!! I called immediately and they were not quick to rectify the problem...only offered me a $50 credit??!!!!! Are you kidding, after I planned and saved money for a particular balcony room and that's all you want to give me for disrupting my entire trip?????? I'm highly disappointed!!!!!! I would expect more from such a large company who thrives on customer satisfaction!!!!

Remarks by billnpj

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I was not impressed with the food in the windjammer or dining. I have had much better on other cruises which was disappointing after my 1st time cruising with RC. The casino was a mess with dirty glasses, bottles etc that piled up in the evening and was not picked up by waiters to trash. My favorite was the tour of the kitchen and fabulous brunch after that was the best meal . The restaraunt Chops was fabulous and enjoyed the dinner they provided. I wouldnt reccomend this ship to others I think to big. Another problem was lack of dancing and shows . I would reccomend having more piano bars and music earlier then 9pm to enjoy a drink before dinner. The cruise agent Ellen Hardman was fabulous with her service and help. She had provided excellent service, knowlege and followup as an agent.

Beautiful ship-Gracious Service by Cruiser47641624

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The Liberty of the Seas is a beautiful ship with spacious staterooms, great food and a lot of variety of activities. We enjoyed the food and the service. The wait staff were delightful and made the trip enjoyable. We were with a scapbooking group which took up a lot of our time. Next time I would go as

a regular guest and spend more time enjoying the amenities of the ship.

Gotta Love Royal Caribbean Cruises by sherrilyng

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We had a lovely suite with great views. Enjoyed the experience of total relaxation. Everyone was smiling and accommodating. We made some new friends and already have plans to see them in the Spring.

The Chef's Selection Dinner and wine paring was very good and is recommended. With that said, we would  like to see the Dinner in a private place/space. At times, it was noisy and we couldn't hear the Chef or Sommelier talking about the cuisine and wine.

Overall, Royal Caribbean is our favorite !!

You're Cruising, what's not to like by homeinspector

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

First time on the Liberty of the Seas.  Nice ship, but not our favorite.  Very plain and unexciting.  Back of the Windjammer is fully glassed in so you cannot sit outside to eat as we really like to do on our cruises.  We regret picking this ship with a stop in Belize.  We liked all the other stops but Belize, unless you scuba or snorkel, has only a Diamonds International and a bunch of cheap t-shirt shops.  Waste of time for us as we are in our mid-60's.  This seems to be one of the few Royal Caribbean ships with the slow internet.  It says it has VOOM, but we were never able to stream any programs even though we paid the full surf and stream price.  Just was not fast enough.  It did work once while in port and everyone was off the ship.  But when the ship is full the bandwidth takes a big dive and you are lucky just to check emails.  We did complain and they refunded us our week of internet fees.

Relaxing vacation by patbriones

Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We love RCL and have never had a bad experience. Ship was very clean and all persons professional and friendly. I always get spa treatments and we like to relax on the deck. My husband likes to be casual so we roll aboard small case, never go in the dining room and just chill.

Liberty of the Seas 23 Oct 2016 by RichardLai

Great ship decor. Good service. Reasonably good food. Over 50% of the customers were over 60 but there were very little music or entertainment catering to seniors. Many older people do Ballroom dancing, yet there was not a single event dedicated for ballroom. Playing some oldies in the Windjammer cafe or the adult lounge would be nice. Perhaps the band could play ballroom music in the Star lounge for two evenings instead of playing Country music every evenings.

Would think twice before booking by stevelaswell

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group

Was the most disappointing vacation I have had.  The food was less than standard.  If you enjoy eating at a Furrs or Luby's cafeteria, this is a step down from that.  Be ready to spend a lot of money for everything.  The ship really needs updating.  The beds needed new mattresses and linens. Rooms were very musty smelling and old décor.  The staff on the ship were awesome.  Best thing about this cruise was when it was over!Sad

Royal Caribbean 7 Night Western Caribbean cruise by Jtexas

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was our third Royal Caribbean cruise and it has been almost 10 years since our last one.  One thing I remember about our last cruise was the wonderful food.  I will remember this cruise because of the food as well, but for it being a huge disappointment.  The food was not good at all and usually cold or barely warm.  They want everyone to go to their specialty restaurants and spend more money, as if your not spending enough on drinks or internet or pictures or every other little thing their selling.  Our balcony cabin was smaller and we might as well have taken our vacation at the mall at Christmas time.  With 4200 people on board it was hard enough to get around the ship but loading the promenade deck with jewelry, watches and anything else they could peddle and having a sale on it all the time just made it worse.  I did enjoy the flowrider, tube rides and climbing wall but the food and constant sales hype really put a damper on our vacation.  I will cruise again but I don't think it will be with Royal Caribbean.
