Review summary

First time on the Liberty of the Seas.  Nice ship, but not our favorite.  Very plain and unexciting.  Back of the Windjammer is fully glassed in so you cannot sit outside to eat as we really like to do on our cruises.  We regret picking this ship with a stop in Belize.  We liked all the other stops but Belize, unless you scuba or snorkel, has only a Diamonds International and a bunch of cheap t-shirt shops.  Waste of time for us as we are in our mid-60's.  This seems to be one of the few Royal Caribbean ships with the slow internet.  It says it has VOOM, but we were never able to stream any programs even though we paid the full surf and stream price.  Just was not fast enough.  It did work once while in port and everyone was off the ship.  But when the ship is full the bandwidth takes a big dive and you are lucky just to check emails.  We did complain and they refunded us our week of internet fees.

Standard balcony cabin. It was a bit forward so the walk to the dining room did take a bit. That's was okay, we needed to walk off all the food anyway.

Ship tip

The stop in Belize was disappointing. Nothing to do there at all, don't go outside the dock compound as crime in the city area is high and cruisers have been mugged / robbed. If you like to scuba or snorkel this seems to be a good stop, but nothing else here at all except a Diamonds international.

We just got off this ship today...we also had a stop in Belize but I don't scuba or snorkel...we did an excursion to one of their private islands with all surrounding beach, food, bar and shops. It was fantastic! This was also much closer to the boat, nothing compared to the tender to Belize City.

I agree with mattward. As soon as I say final goodbyes and farewells. My wife and I turn off our phones and unplug from the world. Relax and enjoy!!! More cruise less worry.

I loved Liberty and Belize! I saw lots of ppl taking plates to the pool deck, but I understand feeling like it was a bit inconvenient. What did you do in Belize? We went river tubing in the rainforest and ate at an amazing local restaurant. My mom is 72, and it was her favorite port. I guess it depends on what you're into. Disconnecting is the main reason I cruise! :)

We're in our 50's and we disconnect while we're cruising too! We love the ship and everything it has to offer. Can't wait for our next cruise on Liberty in May.

I agree mattward. Took my first cruise this past Oct. I disconnected and loved it. Oh yes. I'm 69 and had the best time. Can't wait to go again.

One of my favorite thing about cruising is 'disconnecting'. I turn off my phone shortly after boarding the ship and lock it in the safe. I could care less about reading emails. We enjoy exploring and utilizing all the ship has to offer. The emails aren't going anywhere, they will be there when you get home.
