Our first cruise ever to Alaska on the Jewel of the Seas in August of 2015 was truly exceptional. Highlights were the itinerary and ports-of-call, the EXCELLENT food, and the amazing service by the dedicated staff. The boat is indeed a little out of date and will be dry-docked soon for renovations, but that being said, they have maintained it impeccably, and it is very clean and well-kept. Would have loved more opportunities for the younger couple crowd (not drinking necessarily though), but did a pretty good job balancing considering that many who travel to Alaska are older. There was a pretty good mix of people on board, and the staff was great. Cruise director is a little over the top, but that seems to be fairly par for the course. The itinerary, food and service really set this cruise apart from the others! Happy

Cabin / Stateroom

Small, but plenty for the trip. Beds were very comfortable! Beware the bathrooms are tiny on cruise ships.

Go helicoptering to a glacier (book through viator.com to save $$) - best experience ever! Also, be sure to get some king crab legs in Alaska

LOVED the Yukon tour we took through Frontier excursions (booked on viator.com). Dog sledding, great scenery and tour guide.

Get up early for this and see the Sawyer Glacier! Captain does a 360 degree turn at the glacier so that everyone get a view.
