Review summary

Our first cruise ever to Alaska on the Jewel of the Seas in August of 2015 was truly exceptional. Highlights were the itinerary and ports-of-call, the EXCELLENT food, and the amazing service by the dedicated staff. The boat is indeed a little out of date and will be dry-docked soon for renovations, but that being said, they have maintained it impeccably, and it is very clean and well-kept. Would have loved more opportunities for the younger couple crowd (not drinking necessarily though), but did a pretty good job balancing considering that many who travel to Alaska are older. There was a pretty good mix of people on board, and the staff was great. Cruise director is a little over the top, but that seems to be fairly par for the course. The itinerary, food and service really set this cruise apart from the others!

@macc0_1 there are 2 formal nights on this cruise. We didn't go to the MDR on this cruise so I'm not sure how formal everyone went.

My hubs and I aren't uber social with others when we're on vacation, but I agree about having more things for the younger crowd. All of the "dance parties" and things like that were 50s-70s themed. We're not drinkers so that may not have been our scene either we decided not to go to the quest because of how raunchy it was on our first cruise and that's just not our style. We enjoyed the trivias an
