Review summary
My wife and I had a great 7 day cruise to the Southern Caribbean on Jewel of ht Seas. This was our 6th cruise so we are seasoned cruise people. The ship is laid out very well and very comfortable. The main pool is too small to accmodate a large number of people and is always very busy and noisy. My wife and I enjoyed the solitude of the Solarium pool where you can relax in the sun or the shade if you prefer. The pool is also much less crowded and is for adults only so you don't have kids running around and screaming all day. The Solarium area was our place to get away from the hustle and bustle of the cruise crowd.
The nightly shows were very good; especially the singers and dancers of Royal Caribbean. There was a female comedian who appeared 2 nights and on the first night she was funny but then the second night she had an adults show and got pretty vulgar through the show. You can be funny without being vulgar. We found her langauge to be offensive. Some people left in the middle of the show.
The food aboard the ship was very good throughout the cruise. The buffet style restaurant, the Windjammer, always had a great variety of entrees if you didn't want to go to the main dining room to eat. The main dining room also had varied choices throughout the week. Portion size has gone down throughout the past several years which is fine for both my wife and me; we'd rather have smaller portions and better quality food.
The staff in the dining rooms and throughout the ship the entire week were excellent and attentive.
Lots of on board activites as usual throughout the week so there was lots to do.
The week was very relaxing and enjoyable. We'll travel on Royal Caribbean again as they have a very good peoduct for the price.
Our experience of booking the cruise through Cheap Cruises was very good. All the reps we talked to were very helpful, professional and courteous. We would book again through Cheap Cruises. One plus with our booking with Cheap Cruises was a certificate for $100 off on a hotel room through . We took advantage of that perk on the way home when we got stranded in Houston for the night. Checked for hotels, applied our coupon from Cheap Cruises and got $100 off the room rate very seamlessly.
