Phenomenal Service, decent ship

Sail Date: November 09, 2013

Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Balcony

The cruise was very relaxing, which is what we were looking for, and the service was exceptional.  However, we normally like to be much more active on our vacations (even cruises) and we were not overly impressed by the onboard activities and entertainment, or the knowledge of the staff regarding shore excursions.  While on previous cruises with other lines we never found a shortage of activities we were interested in (everything from the shows, to art auctions, to piano bars), and would have to skip activiites in order to participate in others that were even more appealing) that was not the case on this ship.  We gave up on the evening shows after walking out on one because we found it to be so bad, finding one decent but not great, and only truly enjoying one.

But if you are just lookin gfor a relaxing vacation and chance to "get away from it all" this could be the perfet cruise for you

Ship Quality
Food and Dining
While all of the food was perfectly acceptable, none was phenomenal (inlcudin gat Portofino). However, we did get luck on the second to last night, when the ship got extra large lobsters to serve
Cabin / Stateroom
Service and Staff
Staff was phenomenol, other than shore excursion desk, which was always manned by people from other departments when we were there
Entertainment
there was not nearly the breath of activities that I expected, and some of the evening shows were horrible
Onboard Activities
Destinations and Excursions
While the islands were great, trying to get accurate information about excursions was tough. For example, when we went to book an excursion to the volcano in St. Lucia, the person manning the desk (who was a performer) said that it was a very strenous hike (the brochure said moderate), so we changed to the Aerial Tour of the Rainforest. Then we found someone from the Shore excursion staff and asked if that was accurate, because we were thinking of changing back to the volcano, and he told us that you can only go to the base of the volcano, so we stayed with the Aerial Tram. After leaving St. Lucia, we spoke to some people who went to the volcano, and told us that they did go tot eh top, and it wasn't strenuos at all
