The ship was stunning. From the minute we walked onto the ship, we were impressed with the overall appearance, the kindness and respect offered by the crew mwmbers and the availibility of pretty much anything you wanted at your fingertips.

Ship is Tired by MarkC15

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean

Surprised at the little things that were overlooked in the rooms such as broken sliding door in suite, drawer that wouldn't open, taped remote control in two of our three rooms, tired finishes,ect... Closets in Suites are much smaller on Vision Class RCCL ships than Radiance and Voyager Class ships. Kids amenities are not up to newer standards. Gym was almost non existant... a total of 5 treadmills for nearly 2400 people? Toilets on the 8th floor were not working for several hours the first night. Big dent in the side of the ship where the Captain hit the dock in Costa Maya on a previous trip. Ice cream was highly guarded and only available during dining room hours...why?? The Lounge was too small for the major events held their ...several people left standing. Loved the Baltimore departure....need more ship options to choose from next time.

Grandure of the Seas by ValE

I loved the ship, the service and the events. The Kids were a major problem. Uncontrolled and disruptive. Parents did not monitor their chidlren and therefore, kids acted like disruptive kids. How sad.

Fun cruise with likes and dislikes by BarbaraP4

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean

Embarkation was extremely fast. We arrived at the Port of Baltimore at 11:45 and were on the ship at 12:00. Our stateroom was ready at 1:00. We had a stateroom on the back of the ship, so our balcony was larger than most. Unfortunately, it was in bad need of paint and the deck chairs were dirty. We had to clean them before sitting on them. Our room steward was wonderful and anticipated our needs. Our dining staff was wonderful as well, but the food left a lot to be desired. The first night, I ordered a Black Angus Sirloin that I couldn't chew. One night I ordered Steak Oscar (as in Veal Oscar) and the steak was a thin steak you might get for breakfast at IHOP. They must not have served too many of them because the next day, the leftover steaks were made into Steak Parm. We ate a lot of pizza. Hamburgers left a lot to be desired. The escargot were wonderful. Room service was fast and friendly. The bartenders were friendly and remembered your name if you were there more than once. My favorite drink was a Key Lime Pie martini. The casino was good. Our daughter is 18, so she was able to try her hand at gambling. She was the only one of the three of us to win anything. We really enjoyed playing the 6-seat electronic black jack machine. The singers and dancers were ok. Their microphones seemed to be too loud for the music. The shows were so so. Bingo was full of kids running around as was everything else. The only time I didn't see kids running around was in the dining room. All in all, we enjoyed ourselves, but will probably stick to Holland America or Celebrity in the future. We may take another cruise on Royal Caribbean, but it would be when school is in session, since they don't seem to try to control the children.

Ship was very nice. Could use some renovations but I understand that they are coming soon. Ship rooms were nice, one of the better ones I have stayed in. Our waiter and room attendant were excellent. Staff overall was very friendly and helpful.

Cruise to Bermuda on Grandeur of the Sea by RevE

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

The cruise was well organized. Boarding and disembarking went through without incident. I really liked the color coded way of removing the luggage from the ship. It made it much easier to find in the baggage area. Other cruise lines should consider using it to avoid the experience I have had at other times. My husband and I had a fantastic time. We are looking forward to booking another cruise on Royal Carribean's newest ship.

Very good ship and the captain (Ron) is by ElizabethM20

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean

The ship size was good for older people and the crew always had activities for you to enjoy. The places it went was a poor choice but very little to choose from when you come out of Baltimore. I would do Charleston SC instead of Cape Canaveral or Miami. Three Flordia ports are 2 too many. Maybe a private island

Grand time on Grandeur of the Seas by DebL

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

This was my first cruise and it was wonderful. I have already called AnneMarie to check on something for summer 2007. We departed from Baltimore and it was so nice. No airlines to worry about or long lines. The professor of oceanography who sat at our table stated that it was a great port to leave from. You spend 3 hours on the calm bay allowing you sea legs to adjust.

Not long enough by ChuckS1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

The Grandeur of the Seas is a very clean well taken care of Ship. Leaving from our hometown port was a plus. No need for flying to another location to cruise. Sailing to Bermuda was wonderful but the stay was not long enough. The crew met just about every need we had but one. We had traveled with other family members but were unable to sit together at dinner. The crew tried to adjust the seating but were unable to. I believe they could have used our suggestion but chose not to. A language barrier may have been the problem. We have experienced open seating on other cruise lines and this seems to be the way to go (in my opinion). The other con would be the other passengers on the ship. On the pool deck many of the pasengers saved chairs for the rest of their friends and family members. One group took over 10 chairs at 9:00 am and did not return until noon that day. When they finally showed up they completely blocked off access to the pool. Many had to go another way to reach the pool. They were under a sign which ask the passengers not to save chairs. The crew made no effort to enforce this request and allow others to enjoy the pool deck area. By about 3:00 they were all drunk and became rude and obnoxious. In the gym it became difficult to use the equipment because the crew was using it at about 5:00 pm and going way passed the requested 20 minute maximum time. You would think the crew would at least allow the passengers to have priority. But over all the cruise was a wonderful experience for me and my family and we will go again.

Last minute booking by rsoroka1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean

The ship was in good condition for a 10 year old vessel. Having done cruises on mega ships recently, this was a nice change to a smaller ship. The promenade deck of 1/4 mile is something we miss on the larger ships. Overall it was easier to get around the ship.

A dissappiontment by RobinB11

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean

The ship appeared to need an overhaul. Some areas were dirty and others seem over used. There were banged up walls and doors. The bed linen spelled very bad. I feel the ship should be dry docked and renovated.

A Great Cruise! by GerryM4

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean

Grandeur of the Seas is a beautiful ship and pretty easy to find your way around. This was our 14th cruise, so we do know what we like. My husband has been quite ill so we just wanted to get away from the doctors, hospitals and phones -- a time to relax. With our Royal Suite, we were able to do that. I'm sure we spent more time in our Suite than any other person's on this cruise. The ports of call were okay, but as mentioned, we were pretty much tied to the ship. We ordered room service every day, and the coffee and the food was ALWAYS cold, stale and poor service. Other than the MAIN Dining Room with two seatings, there was only the Windjammer Cafe Buffet. The one and only time we tried it, it was a "traffic jam" of people.
